Good luck finding Spore on a Ghost Pokemon!

Correct on the theory though! :)

Use hypnosis on it. This should give you roughly 40 turns (number pulled from colon) to catch it. :)

Use Spore so you don't miss and waste precious turns.

Unless it pulls the usual BS of waking up the same turn you put it to sleep.

I'd say paralyze it. Then it's only got a 75% chance of pulling off any given move, assuming the RNG doesn't screw you. If you feel it's worth the risk, confuse it, which if I the did math right (unlikely), will only give it a 50% shot of successfully pulling off Take Down or Struggle. And if I remember correctly, a Pokemon attacking itself from confusion uses its own attack and defense stats for the damage calculation. Since Beldum has mediocre attack and a great defense, it shouldn't damage itself too much from confusion, compared to the recoil from Take Down or Struggle.

Of course this is all assuming you run into a Beldum first on any given route. You're just as likely to run into its evolutions, which, depending on their level, may know non-recoil moves.

tl;dr : Most of this is irrelevant given the unlikelyness of running into Beldum or its evolutions first on any given route.

Nina looks adorable in that picture. The thing about MSPaint illustrations for something like this is that you've already got all the information and a fair amount of entertainment between the screenshots and text, so your pictures are just icing on the cake. Do them if they're fun for you (and I like the ones you've done so far!).

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Part 7: Reunion

"Petalburg City Pokemon Gym
Leader: Norman - 'A Man in Pursuit of Power!'"
...

I stepped through the front doors and came face-to-face with a man I hadn't seen in some time. He looked at me quizzically for a second, and then recognition lit up his face.
"Ing? Ing, is that you?"

I grinned. "Hi, Dad."
I stepped forward and gave him a brief hug, which he returned awkwardly.  Then he pushed himself away with a laugh. "So son, I guess you're here for the gym challenge? May I see your Pokemon?"

I gave an inward sigh - I just wanted to see him, not battle! - but showed him all of my new friends anyway. Dad took his time examining them, a frown on his face. "Ing, you can't be serious. These Pokemon...they're all too weak! They wouldn't last five minutes in my gym!"

Well, my Pokemon were pretty upset at that, especially Champ, but Dad wasn't finished yet. "I thought I taught you better than this! You shouldn't be wasting time on weaklings when there's a whole world of powerful Pokemon out there!"

Thankfully, I was spared further tongue-lashing by a hesitant knock on the door. A gangly kid poked his head inside, looked around, and walked towards Dad. In a thin voice, he asked Dad if he could help catch a Pokemon to be his friend. Dad apparently knew the kid - Wally was his name - and told me to go along with him as back-up. I left the gym with Wally, grateful to get away.

Using Dad's Zigzagoon (which he must keep around just for such purposes), Wally managed to capture something called a Ralts. The look of joy on Wally's face made me smile, for it reminded me of when I met Champ for the first time. We returned to the gym, the kid beaming all the way and even making Dad lose his serious expression for a moment. After profusely thanking the both of us, Wally left.

I braced myself for another lecture, but I did not expect the next words to come out of his mouth.
"If you really want to challenge me...come back once you have four Gym Badges. Only then will you be strong enough to face my Pokemon. Start with Roxanne in Rustboro City. After that, you're on your own. And don't you dare come back before you're done."

Not trusting my voice to remain steady, I simply nodded and walked out.

Interesting. Can we get a status update of the team each turn? Would be good to know what level they are.

Not every turn (because I'll never remember and after updates like these the stats will be utterly unchanged), but when someone requests it I don't see the harm :)

Part 8: The Mighty Route

So...Route 104. Maybe I'll find some strong Pokemon here.

You don't look very strong :(

He paralyzed Nina and took two Pokeballs to catch, but did nothing else the entire battle. I dunno about this one, but he was the first one I found.

Aw, why couldn't I have found something like this?!

Or THIS?!

Okay, now this route is just making fun of me :I

...I have no words.

Even though Wattson has no damage-dealing moves, he's still pretty useful. By sending him out first each battle, I can paralyze opponents - greatly slowing them down - and he gains experience! Hopefully he'll soon have some actual attacks.

Stupid one Pokemon per route rule...

I took out my frustrations on a trainer running around in circles. He had this unusual thing, probably the strongest non-wild Pokemon I've seen yet.

AGH!

As a result of the battle against the vengeful seed from Hell, Lady learned how to confuse enemies with super-sonic waves! Hurray!

A fisherman sent this thing out to fight me. Or maybe he wanted me to gut it for dinner. I'm not entirely sure :(

Near the entrance to a dark forest, a pretty lady in a green dress challenged me to a battle. She was saying we were "destined" to meet and that "at least one Pokemon will not be walking away from this". She sent out a Zigzagoon that sent chills down my spine with its soulless eyes. It badly injured Wattson after he paralyzed it, and just stood there as Champ tackled it again and again. Just when I thought it was over, the lady pulled out a potion that not only healed the Zigzagoon's wounds, but also cured its paralysis! I quickly had Wattson do another Thunder Wave and began the process of having Champ grind it down once more, when suddenly it grinned maniacally and leapt forward!

Sucks that you ran into a Minun first and not the others.

NOOO!! Why did it have to be Champ? *looks at Wattson with tears in my eyes* It should have been you! T_T

This is why I love Nuzlocke runs. It makes me get attached to normally useless Pokemon.

The Gym Leader or the Minun? Doesn't matter, I don't particularly care for either. I do like Plusle though, oddly enough. That stems from capturing a Plusle in one of my Nuzlockes of Sapphire and having her be the only electric type I caught through that entire (failed) run. She was an absolute beast and saved me many a time against flying and water foes.
