I'm kinda hoping you're forced to use a Luvdisc or Unown at some point.


Someone needs to make a hack that uses this randomization thing, along with all the 'Mons through Gen V. (and VI when it comes out)
I've already seen a hack that does this (Manly Pink, if I remember) so it'd just be a matter of randomizing it.

Speaking of which, are rivers and whatnot randomized? Can one find a Dugtrio wandering around the ocean?

I assume so, considering how I found Omanyte wandering around on land. But I've never gotten far enough with this mod to know for sure.

What I'm really interested to know is if the Old Rod will still just catch Magikarp, or if I can find completely different stuff.

You can catch other stuff than Magikarp with the old rod. Mainly Tentacool, but still.

Also, a bit about how pokemon appearances work: Each area has, for each method of finding mons, 12 data slots containing wild pokemon that will appear there. Two of them appear with a 20% chance, four at 10%, two at 5%, two at 4% and two at 1%.

The randomizer shoves random mons into all twelve slots for everything (except, I think, for route 102 - that seems to never change).

On one of my "practice runs", I ran into Registeel on Route 101. It used Explosion and killed me instantly, which would basically have been a game-ender before I even made it to Oldale.

The Regis only know explosion until level 9. Really nice if you have a ghost.

Part 4: The First Capture

Well, Champ was looking tired (but damn proud of himself all the same), so after defeating May we walked back to Oldale for rest. I caught a glimpse of May standing by the southern entrance, but she just waved and ran on ahead. That girl is freakin' hyper.


When I finally staggered back to the lab, I found Birch and May waiting for me. Turns out May ran out to Route 103 in order to do some research for her dad, and he wanted me to help as well!


Birch handed me a small electronic device and explained that it was called a "Pokedex"; a sort of computer that can tell me all sorts of information about the Pokemon I find and catch. May has one as well, which I guess makes the two of us assistant scientists, or something. He wants us to travel across Hoenn and observe as many different species as possible.


May handed me my first Pokeballs, and the two of them gave me a brief lesson on how to catch Pokemon and how the official law works in regards to Training:

• You may only catch one Pokemon per route per year.
• You are encouraged to defeat your opponents non-fatally when possible, especially in trainer-on-trainer battles.
• Wild Pokemon are under no such restriction, and can be extremely dangerous. By becoming an official Trainer, you acknowledge these risks.

There was a bunch of other stuff as well, but those were the big three.

And with that, they wished me luck. I'm finally starting my own Pokemon journey!

Birch got chased that far?! Okay then...

As I was about to leave town, Mom came out of our house in a hurry with a parcel in her hands. She wished me good luck on my journey, saying that I was truly my father's child. She also told me to come back and visit whenever I was tired, and that she loved me. Before I could embarass myself with tears, she gave me a solid hug, handed me the parcel, and went back inside.
The package contained Running Shoes! No more walking everywhere for me!


Alright, here we go. Whatever pops out of the grass, that will be my first official capture.


It's one of the bugs from before. "Ledyba", apparently. Let's go, Champ! And try not to squash it this time...

That'd be a neat title. If you want more options: Abydel, Hurricano, Arthmageddon (too bad it doesn't fit), Geraldine, and Hugo.

Splat would be a good name for a bug with a death wish. Insecticide? Misenthropy? Not sure what the insect version of misanthropy would be. Something along those lines. Let's get some fatalistic self-hatred going for the meatchitinshield.

It's much better than my idea, given a Ledyba's average lifespan in a Nuzlocke.

So now that we're really rolling with our first capture, I'd like to ask the audience what they think of the LP so far. Do you want larger/smaller screenshots? A higher text-image ratio or lower? Would you like more shoddy paint images, fewer, or none at all? And so on and so forth.

Give me your comments and suggestions, so that I may attempt to improve this thing for the greater enjoyment of all

Part 5: They Fight Crime


I named my new friend "Lady". I'm a kid, okay? I couldn't think of anything else 

Now, Lady was much weaker than Champ, and needed to get stronger. I asked Birch for advice, and he suggested letting her out to fight first. If she won the fight, great. If she got into trouble, I could switch her out for Champ, and they'd both gain experience. Seems like a nifty idea to me!

The wild Omanyte on Route 101 turned out to be ideal for this, as it would often take both Lady and Champ's best efforts to bring one down, and all the exercise made them both stronger. Sadly, they seemed to be pretty rare around here.
The devil foxes on the other hand? Those things were mean, especially since poor Lady was weak to their ember attacks. Then I'd have to bring in Champ, and he'd usually end up burned. I apologized each time it happened, but he seemed to shrug it off. The little guy actually seemed to enjoy the challenges, and Lady was quickly learning to emulate him.


Anyway, once Lady was looking nearly as tough as Champ, I decided that it was time to leave Route 101. I couldn't catch anything there anyway, and there was a whole world filled with strange new Pokemon to explore! I decided to check out Route 103 instead.


This cute little thing jumped on me as soon as I stepped into the grass of Route 103. She's a brave one, alright. I had to catch it!


It critted on it's very first hit on Champ. That's pretty damn impressive.





It was at this point I threw the Pokeball, and it worked! Nidoran is mine!



So after I run back to the Pokemon Center to heal up Champ, what should I name her?

Yay, The Adventures of Champ and Lady are a go!
Until one of them dies.
Then we can bring in new characters while people on the internet claim the show jumped the shark..er jumped the Sharpedo.
Then when ratings start to drop we can start up a spinoff: "The Adventures of Champ: Special Attack Victims Unit"

I think I may be taking this television show idea a bit too seriously.

That's all I can come up with as far as general use goes. For added fun, you can add Mr., Ms, General (don't know the abbreviation) Sargent (Sarge also makes a good nickname), etc.

Generalized names, huh. Maybe name them like people tend to name livestock, after various types of food the thing could be turned in to. I figure the poison rat could be named Stew.

Non-organic stuff could be named after kitchen appliances or somethin'.
