Not the crevasse. The abyss.

Thats probably the lure in the background, that slightly brown oval shape on the long dark blob.  We should totally check that out.

Gee, that crevasse is pretty deep... must be more than 20 feet down. You mentally label it the Abyss, and suppose you ought to investigate it first, before you get too tired of all this continual swimming. First surfacing for a big gulp of air, you dive straight down.

> PERCEPTION CHECK: 24 (18+8-2)

As you get closer, you notice something glinting from within the sea grass. You brush through the thick mat of vegetation until something sharp pricks your finger. Looks like a fishhook, with a small tan-grey disk attached! Not even the saltwater can foil these eyes!

INVENTORY:

What do you mean? You've clearly got the lure right here. Moreover, you don't see any slightly brown oval shapes on any long dark blobs. That's just silly.

Try to evade that octopus on the way back. It looks malicious.

((Added some possibly timely rules to the OP regarding combat actions, wounds, and dying!))

((Yes, character death is totally a thing here.))

Swim to the man in a timely manner.

We have an auto-dodge ability guys. If the octopus attacks us we should be okay. And then we have free seafood!

As happy as I am with how this looks so far, I already work methodically as it is... and I'm afraid I bit off more than I can chew with this art-style. The amount of time it's taking me to finish designing scenes throughout the city alone is daunting by itself, and that's not even considering characters and poses, etc. This is my first time running one of these things, and I'm still figuring out what I need to do, and what works.

Right now, I'm experimenting with alternative styles, which I know is kind of a lame thing to be doing just after starting, but I hope you can excuse it. We got lots of story to tell, and I don't want to take a week per scene if I can avoid it. Being able to update the story quickly is important to me; I'd eventually like to be able to sit down with you guys and do several updates in rapid succession. Until I get better at this art thing, I might have to change the style to make that happen. :/

Bear with me if you can, and in the meantime have some doodles for your patience.
