Careflly stepping over the tripwire Sir Johns discovered, you manage to locate 2 more tripwires in front of the 3rd and 5th sets of statues. Extending your search, you do determine there is a sort of magical trap on the chest, but there is no visible means of accessing it...

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Since they're just impaired, I inform everyone else in the party of them, making sure no one is stupid enough to stop on or into one. As for the chest..."...oh, and there be some sort of magic trap on the chest. I don't reccomend you go touchin' it."

"Everyone, step away.  I can see if Mage Hand will trigger the trap."

If they step back, try to manipulate with Mage Hand.

The chest specifically.  I'll try the tripwires if anyone would like.

Back away from the chest.

Well, the chest is very large and heavy, and even the lid exceeds the 5lb max of mage hand(not to mention it's locked!), so you're stuck with trying the tripwires. Wich one first, the second or the third(you already know what the first does!)

Well, in that case, it appears the trap is triggered by opening the chest.  Any relevant knowledge skills available to confirm this?

Will you people stop intentionally tripping all those bloody traps?

no knowledge skills required, it can be assumed that is the case. You'd need to further examine the chest to be sure though

"Well, it appears as if any trap would be triggered whilst opening the chest, not by manipulating it.  Unfortunately, mage hand does not have the strength to do it."

Keep in mind though, you couldn't even manipulate it do due it easily exceeding mage hand's weight limit

"I know how to get rid of the tripwires, it's simple, really, it's just a question of whether doing so would set 'em off..."

How do we know it's not some super awesome magic thing inside?
And you know we'll end up triggering whatever traps anyway. It is inevitable, Mr. Darvi.
