Turn One

Your ship has landed in a grassy field on your new homeland. Ahead, you can see a dense forest, and to your left, a wide, slow moving river winds through the land. Strange little, three eyed yellowish creatures hop about, sort of like a long extinct Earth species called rabbits. What do you do?

Gather up my hunting and trapping equipment then attempt to capture one of these animals, use force only if required,

(( Do I begin with any hunting and taming equipment?

I'm hoping an advanced bow and arrows and some knives plus my trapping tools. ))

Pick up an axe and a crossbow from the ship's arsenal and go to the river. Examine its banks for animal tracks and debris. Answer the following questions as I do:
- How many types of lifeforms do there seem to be in this area?
- Are any of them special in some way?
- Do I see any primitive tools discarded near or in the river?

[[ Sorry, shoulda posted this from the start... The ship you came on is stocked with the basics, some food and water to last for a month or so, basic tools, axes, weapons, a few traps, and 5 multipurpose drones that can be programmed for a certain task, cooking, chopping trees, etc.]]

4 - You prayer is answered, sorta. You sprout a small pair of bat wings, just big enough to lift you about two inches off the ground.

Caladan:

5 - You jump on top of one of the creatures, first trying to catch it with your bare hands before bringing out your traps. They appear to be very slow, and you manage to snag one. It freezes in fear, and you bring it back to the ship, triumphant.

Charlie:

6 - You go over to the river and begin to examine the area. Some small fish swim lazily in the water, and you swat at the water, attempting to scare them. As soon as your hand touches the water, the ground shudders and a huge catfish like creature rises out of the sandy bottom and clamps its mouth onto your arm.

Diana:
Chop down some trees. grab a drone to help

2 - You take a drone out of the hold, and give it an axe. You accidentally press the 'Explore' button instead of the 'Chop' button. The drone buzzes, then launches itself away, across the river, and out of site. Drones remaining - 4/5

4 - You grab a small laser handgun with 10 shots in the cartridge and head off into the forest. You manage to find a few nuts and berries, but not much.

Study the animal then go to the ships brig and place the animal in locking the door behind me.
Take one of the drones and set it to explore for other animals then return to me.

Stun the alligator catfish with the axe's pommel. Try to drag it out of the water, if possible.

Why isn't anyone building a shack or house?
