Best Fight Reports?
« on: January 29, 2013, 09:15:08 pm »

Hey I'd really like to read other peoples reports preferably really gruesome ones for e.g. I had a marksdwarf shoot down a goblin, walk up and finish it with one punch jamming the Goblins skull through the brain and killing it.

I usually just get reports about spinning serrated discs doing that thing they do, or about animals somehow getting other animals into scissor locks, despite that being physically impossible for them.

I didn't think to screen-shot it, but I had something where my miner suddenly grabbed a Kea Man by the butt and punched him...

I don't usually use traps I prefer the "if my military dwarves die then we all die" approach to dwarf fortress.

I had one where about 20 marksdwarf militia spent a few weeks shooting every part of a goblin, apart from the bits that would kill him. From memory, the goblin had no head or upper torso injuries, but red everything else. (i was using masterwork metal bolts/crossbows)
It was like one of my adventure mode fights.

I wonder how long it's gonna be until someone brings up a log of a Giant Ostrich Cock pushing a were-ass.

I had once a veteran soldier, solid but not spectacular, take a fight with a goblin spearmaster mounted on an elk bird.
Every goblin's blow struck home, And Kubuk always missed him. Soon armor failed the brave dwarf, and a horrific blow of goblin's *silver spear* broke his right floating ribs through the steel mail. Laughing goblin was prepared to deal the last blow as the dwarven hero was struggling with extreme pain, but then:

Tha Axedwarf scratches the Goblin Spearmaster in the throat, tearing the skin!
A major artery in the throat has been torn!

After that, goblin's elk bird and his entire squad of mounted hammergoblins turned craven, and he bled to death a few moments after Kubuk passed out fom pain.

My personal favorite had to be one from an arena mode test of a Blue Diamond Behemoth versus thirty axelords. One of axelords was killed when the behemoth kicked that dwarf, said dwarf was propelled away, and exploded after colliding with the behemoth.

It kicked him so hard that it broke the laws of physics.

Nah, probably just kicked him straight up and so he landed on the behemoth afterwards.

I had an adventure mode combat log which I interpreted as "you throw the kobold in the air with your free hand, then stab him before he lands again". I think that was before the minecart update so it shouldn't have been possible as things in the air were in limbo back then. Nowadays you can smack someone in the air with a loaded minecart and hit them mid-air with the contents of said minecart before watching their body crash and skid on the ground.

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.

A Giant War Hamster killing a Minotaur single-pawedly, about two pages of "the Giant War Hamster latches on firmly", probably using his teeth (I only modded them to be trainable and breedable).

Giant hamster is almost the same size with Minotaur. He probably felt like a kobold being assaulted by a dog.

I had a kitten push a crippled and beaten minotaur in the head and getting a name for it, the kitten had lost all four of its legs somehow, hence why it was pushing things in the first place.
But that was ages ago.

I don't know about unicorns, but back in .95, one of my PA soldiers was diagnosed with power armor. I drew a fairly good picture about it, but my science project (a bunny) pissed all over it.

I sent a squad of marksdwarves into the caverns to secure an area for construction. A helmet snake wandered in. Instead of my brave dwarves shooting it, or hitting it, one decided to bite it to death. I have this picture in my head of an armored dwarf walking up to a snake, leaning down, grabbing it with his\her teeth and shaking it until dead.

Did the kitten survive? Because that would make the story even better. "All hail _name_ the limbless kitten that slew the mighty minotaur."

Agreed

This happened a week ago, right when my fortress at that time just started, the militia commander  was a miner at the time, till I had enough steel swords to start my military.
I don't know what they my dwarves were doing but they let out a stoat man from the cage, well I quickly ordered my militia to kill it before it canceled anymore jobs. Luckily my commander was on the way to the stockpile to get some food so he was the closest when the call to arms went out. He was still wielding the pick. MC (Militia commander) SM (Stoat Man)

MC charges SM knocking SM down.
MC swings the pick at SM lodging it firmly in his arm.
MC Pulls pick out of SM's arm.
SM scratches at MC but he jumps out of the way.
MC swing picks at SM's neck ripping the flesh and breaking a major artery.
(OVERKILL TIME) MC swings pick at SM's head jamming the pick in SM's eye puncturing the brain and pushing the skull in SM's brain.
