"These rats are too frenzied, they would never listen to me! Maybe the ones that survive this attack, but not now!"

Henry pointed at one of the dire rats and called out

"Fritz! Attack!"

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

With that rat (in Henries mind) taken care of by the Faithful Fritz, he turned his attention to the swarm. Luckily it looked like Lady Minsky was making good headway, but just in case.

Henry attacks the swarm (I think it in Minskys square and thus can be attacked by me right?) with his Scimitar, fairly wimpy, but who knows, maybe.

"Yeouch! That hurt!"
Given the utterly filthy looking mouth that just bit him, Tarzu decides to have a healer look at that wound later, but for now he drops his bow(free action), pulls out his short sword(move), and tries to put the wounded rat down(+4 attack because of weapon finesse and short sword being a light melee weapon; damage 1d6+1 with 19-20x2 crit)

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Fritz pounces on its prey, the dire rat assaulting Minsky...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And tears through the beast's belly, devouring its insides in a gory mess and killing the foul beast.
Henry meanwhile swings his scimitar...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And as it culls more, it still isn't enough to stop the swarm of vermins from scurrying around ferociously.

Tarzu swings his short sword at the beast!

Unluckily, the elf misses.
It is now Minski turn! The dire rat flanking her is dead, and only the swarm in her same spot, plus the dire rat in front of Tarzu, remains to be vanquished!

((This would be a lot easier with an updated battle grid. It's really not that hard to do one at the end of a combat turn. Anyway, I think moving out of my space would provoke an AoO since the swarm is in my "same spot," so I'll go with this.))

"Eugh, tiny rats everywhere! Taste my BLADE!" Lady Minski brings her blade down on the swarm once more. "Oh: little sorceress, thank you much for your shieldy light!"

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Lady Minski's blade comes crashing down...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And smashes against the multitude of vermin skittering around, rat poultice is now everywhere!
Only a dire rat remains, assaulting Tarzu, but it is now Korina's turn!

"You're welcome," Korina said, pondering her next move. It feels like kind of a waste to use my other good spell, but I can't really help out in any other way. I might as well, I suppose. I have to earn that 4 GP. She maneuvered herself so as not to hit any allies and cast Color Spray (DC 15) toward the remaining Dire Rat.

Korina moves deftly, trying her best not to hit Tarzu as she pronounces words of arcane might and power...
A cone of brilliant energy flows from the tip of her fingers and hits the already grievously wounded rat.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But except slightly coloring the fur of the animal, it does not work.
The rat now ferociously strikes back at Tarzu!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The saying about cornered animals fighting tooth and nail is true it seems, as the small small beast tears literally a chunk of flesh and muscle from Tarzu's leg, which is going to scar probably, and the blood loss is terrible!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It is now Henry's turn!

"Fritz! Attack!" Henry called as he pointed to the last rat.

He then tried to move himself into a more useful position.

....well crud. I definitely need a heal here druid!

I'm holding action I guess(you'd think 16ac at level 1 would count for something -_-)

Edit: Actually, would going total defense put me on the ground or would that be a valid move?

Fritz moves, circling around Minski and reaching to bite the last rat but...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
It misses, its teeth literally snapping the air.
Henry thus flanks the rat from the side and with his scimitar poised to strike...
The rat bleeds from the small slash across his side, and with a squeaking noise falls on the ground.
Dying.
Man what a fight! You rack up experience...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And then you look at your wounded.

Henry lays a hand upon Tarzu and concentrates.

"I fywyd, yn tyfu."

His power pours into Trazu, stopping bleeding and slightly knitting together wounds. Although not by much.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"It was not much my friend, but it will at least keep you from bleeding out. The rest of your wounds may take a few days to heal. But perhaps if you allow me to tend to them I could shorten that time.

Come, lets get a estimate on costs to stay from the keeper of this inn. For we certainly will not be able to move from this village today, and perhaps not tomorrow."

Tarzu smiles weakly. "Thank you. Being killed by rats is frankly a rather embarrassing way to die." He starts to limp up the stairs muttering "'Rats' the innkeeper said. More like bloody mastiffs if you ask me. I aught to ask for a lot more than just 4 gold pieces for the trouble!"

Korina went to Tarzu's side and put an arm around his waist. "I'm not very strong, but you can lean on me until we get you up there to a chair." She looked at his leg as they walked and shook her head. "That could be infected. Damned vermin..."

"HMM? Leaving? Sure we didna miss any?" Lady Minski took one last look around. "Eh, okey. Tend to wounded."

Take one last look around the room before heading back up to report to the quest-giver.
