"Well... if you can convince the small ones to leave and never come back, that would certainly make killing the bigger ones slightly easier." Korina shuddered. "You don't suppose they're as big as or bigger than me, do you?"

"I have no real need of invisibility or any tricks to hide." Tarzu continues down the stairs

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Lady Minski and Tarzu descend, the latter going down slightly before the warrior, and trying to meld and hide within the shadows.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Quietly, far more quietly than anything it could be imagined, Tarzu descends the stairs in the barely illuminated cellar room. The silence is deafening for but a while, before it is interrupted by the slight chink made by Lady Minski's chain armor, as she descends behind Tarzu. The woman tries to see, but is sort of blinded by her weapon's light: she isn't used to this.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Tarzu has all but disappeared from your sight, Minski, and in the cellar, barely illuminated by the light cast from your sword, you see but a long line of dusty old barrels, a few leaking as if gnawed upon by teeth of vermins, further down.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
After few instants, both Korina and Henry reach you, and they are now behind you.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Henry and Korina both see Tarzu's figure hiding at his best behind a moldy barrel, trying to peer within the room's less illuminated areas in order to get an idea of who or what may lurk within.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Your keen elven eyes look into the darkness of the room, but nothing is seen by them, albeit your elven heritage does grant you far more sight in the badly lit areas than the humans though.
If the rats are in these room, they are hiding fairly well.
The small corridor of three meters wide and six long ends in a room that is nine meters wide and six meters long, upon which long shelves filled with liquors stand perilously tall. A few bundle of crates stand in the lower left corner of the room in question.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

In that corner of the room, Tarzu hears some light squeaking noises, typical of small rodents.
Lady Minski hears from somewhere ahead of her, to the right, some noises. She does not manage to see where however, as the light of the torch only illuminates till the end of the corridor, and then badly a few more meters ahead.

Lady Minski decides to draw out the noises ahead and to the right of her by banging on the wall nearby with her lit sword a couple times.

Korina pulled lightly on Henry's sleeve to get his attention. "Is it just me, or is it too quiet in here for it to be infested?" she asked, looking around again. "I mean, can you sense or speak to the vermin down here somehow?" He was druid, as far as she knew or was concerned that was something he should be able to do.

Tarzu signals to the rest where he thinks they are, and at Lady Minksi's response to draw them out, quietly pulls out his bow and knocks an arrow while positioning himself further into the shadow.

Herny looked at the diminutive spellcaster and whispered back.

"Unfortunately and perhaps stupidly such a power is not currently within me. Given time and preparation I would be able to, but we do not have the luxury."

Herny then took out his Scimitar and shield readying himself for whatever could be attracted by Lady Minski.

Korina nodded back to Tarzu and put a hand on the hilt of her dagger, but didn't draw it quite yet. At long as she could hide behind/near Henry, she probably wouldn't need it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The air stills for a second. The squeaking noises cease. Then, a few seconds later, a slow rumbling noise begins to converge on the party!
It's a Swarm of Rats! and it's not alone! Two Dire Rats! squeak and join their fray!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Battle Begins! Inititiave!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The battle begins, and Tarzu is the first one who may attack should he wish to. At the moment, he is no longer hidden, having shot an arrow and having revealed himself to the swarm and the rats themselves.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Korina, it appears two of the rats are as big as you, being small and all.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The swarm of rats is straight in front of the group, but may be charged only by two individuals considering the towering shelves at its sides. The two dire rats are instead just at the corners of the corridor, thus while they may be charged themselves, it risks providing a flank for the swarm.

Tarzu holds off for now to give the druid a chance to talk to them, though if that fails he'll immediately put an arrow through a dire rat's knee face

"Woah..." Korina blinked. "There actually ARE some as big as I am. I bet there was some magical meddling involved." She shook her head in consternation at whatever wizard - because it was probably a wizard, they were always 'studying' magic and that usually meant nothing good. It was much better to just let it flow through you as she did - thought it was a good idea to enlarge disease carrying vermin. So disgusting...

: "Talkin ta giant rats 's DUMB AN BORING!"

Lady Minski doesn't wait for Henry to talk to the rats. Seeing Tarzu hold off on his own action, she brings her sword crashing down onto the swarm of rats first.

Welp since she's not waiting, guess I put an arrow in the eye of the nearest dire rat

The Battle begins fiercely!
Tarzu's arrow fly in the air with deadly grace...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And one of the Fiendish rats gets skewered by the arrow! It still twitches and screeches, so it isn't dead, but blood is gushing out of the beast's wound!

Lady Minsky's sword makes a deadly arc in the air...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And comes down like a scythe harvesting grain in a nice sunny field. Her attack cleaves through a great number of the rats' swarm, but it is still not enough, as more come out to refill the ranks of the fallen.

Korina's hands twitch into the form of arcane casting...and since there's no-one to menace her, she casts shield on Lady Minski without troubles!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But now it's the rat's turn to retaliate!
The swarm is everywhere near Lady Minski!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But they don't actually distract her...however they do try and bite her!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But they miss, their teeth clinking uselessly against the warrior's armor.
The two Dire rats are not going to let it slide however, and the wounded one charges straight for Tarzu!

And his vengeance is sweet! The dire rat's teeth sink deeply into the ankle of Tarzu, biting ferociously and drawing blood from the elf!

The second Dire rat aims for Minski, flanking the warrior!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But he misses, the armor and the conjured shield too strong!

It is now Henry's turn!
