You decide to paint the SUICIDE MAN, but Nomiya-sensei always tells you to sketch out an idea beforehand.



...Shut up. It's beautiful.

You can't remember much about the SUICIDE MAN but his mask. So you go off impressions instead. Somehow, you could feel how he looked in the dark, feel the fluididy. So you broke the rules a bit and drew him without a skeleton. A long arching neck is next, followed by a tapering body like a serpent, but not... He felt amphibiany to you. His hands end in thin, long claws like knives. The hardest part are his feet. You can't tell if he had four or two. Both, somehow. What sort of monster is this? You completely fail to render him properly on paper.

You never drew the RUBY DOLL.

You guess you could check on your friends... Or aquantainces. Whatever. Who first, though?

Rin's... creature is frighteningly similar to yours. The body is almost exactly the same, but it's hands end in snake-like protrusions that seem to bite and writhe unnaturally on the paper. Rin's a far better artist than you are, and you can almost see the spines waving softly, sniffing the air like antennae.

But it's head is different. Instead of a white mask, it's simply a hole, a vortex of soft gums. There are no sharp teeth like a shark, or crushing molars. No cilia, no mandibles, just a gaping maw designed to swallow things whole. The only abnormality is a plethora of small eyes, different in size and shape as if stolen from men, women and children alike. They're crying.

You don't want to look at Rin's painting any more. Especially when it winks at you.

Hiki's sculpture hasn't come very far, but at least you can tell it's human.

Class is almost over. You guess you can work on your painting tomorrow. Even Rin has begun putting her things away.
