Xx Purge xX
« on: January 26, 2013, 11:06:33 am »

I just deleted all non-metal clothing in my fort. I thought the DF autodump destroy wouldnt actually destroy clothes that dwarves were WEARING.

I was wrong. All my dwarves are naked.

How long do I have?

It will be amazing though. Regardless there is no need to be ashamed considering random stuff like this often happens.

if you brainwash all your dwarves, they won't tantrum when they're naked.  Just sayin'... there's a way out if you don't want to lose the fort.

If your fort creates enough happy thoughts on its own from sunshine, legendary dining rooms, and built artifacts, then you might last long enough to make more clothes.

You may want to try adding [NOEMOTION] to the dwarf creature entry in your savegame raws.

It's not very nice of you to show people how to avoid having fun. OP, please disregard.

Verly so. There is no need in playing DwarfFortress if one cheats by programmingt he game easier anyway.

That's an interesting way to start a tantrum spiral. You might have a short grace period, but that might require that the dwarf has clothes to own. I occasionally strip dwarves of all their clothing and equipment, and they don't get bad thoughts immediately. Presumably this is because their dumped clothes will remain owned for a couple of weeks.

If owning clothes and not wearing them is the key, then hopefully you have a skilled clothier / leatherworker and plenty of materials. If you have the materials but not the skills, then everybody gets a crash course in clothesmaking.

I would recommend putting key civilians in a squad and having them pick up some armour to get them covered first. How much armour do you have, and how quickly can you make more?

Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I am playing LFR MOD. A female dwarf is miserable because she is wearing no clothing - she also happens to belong to a reaction-caste that can throw fireballs, and is responsible for killing more recruits than any outside threat.

She's also a fully armored legendary that I took off duty, which she didnt like either.

The situation in the fort right now is that I killed the most recent elf caravan to take all their rope reed. A bunch of dabbling clothesmakers are working their... bare asses off

this is why you should always keep a surplus of fresh clothing in the finished goods pile.

Fresh clothing isnt a problem - the used up clothing cluttering up every bed room and driving me to melancholy however is
