"As long as we can destabilize the guards, that is enough. Fear can do wonders for winning a battle, and being trapped by two forces of undead is a bad situation no matter how big one particular group of undead is."

"To hell with this. This is a border town - there's nothing to be seen about it. Unless some of you are worried they have a super-weapon hidden in the tent or an army of battle mages having tea time in one of the buildings, the odds of scouting revealing anything are ridiculously low. I'm sick of wasting time. We surround them, and we attack."

Attack.

Could you just put Delay or Attack, make it easy on the gm! Heh. Assumedly you'll all join the battle when it occurs.

"Roland, I think we agreed to prepare, that is what we will do. I'm not going in blind like we did in Vis Valdi and got some of ourselves wounded pointlessly."

"We're hardly going in blind - the town is right over there. We can see all there is to see. What are exact numbers going to change in our tactics? What do you expect to find  in the town that could reasonably change anything whatsoever? Enough bloody stalling - let's just get this over with."

(Just to make it clear, I'll follow whatever action is decided upon by the assaulting army: whether attack or delay.)

"Roland, you are disputing the most basic rules of combat, especially when we have no big force or are specialized in combat. You might want to wave your stick around but if we do this by the book, we lose less time fixing ourselves up later. Cabal should be efficient, if we aspire to former glory."

Same. In the event the attack is delayed, I'll reanimate more.

Edit: Ooh almost forgot. If there is an attack, I'd like to try and take some prisoners for testing later on.

Roland snorted in amusement.

"You did not answer my question. You speak of reducing risks and doing things by the book, yet you cannot cite anything scouting could actually reveal that would change anything. You use strategies simply because real generals do so, and not because it is appropriate; and yet you treat me with contempt. We have a good idea of their numbers. We know what their troop composition is like. We know this is a border force guarding an uncontested zone in a country that is not at war outside a ghost town - probably hit by the plague. The odds of them having anything worth scouting for are negligible. We have spent enough time on this matter. It's time to move forward, not to be paralyzed by paranoia."

"It appears you have not considered the damage to our comrades inside, who will be behind the enemy and much more likely to get hit by a close shot from an arrow or get their heads bashed in simply because they stand closer. There is a reason why we prepare, including giving them time while they ready up inside. And I have nothing but respect for you ,seeing how I gave you my staff, imbued it with iron and asked your opinion at every turn. Please do not be antagonistic now, it only hampers us."

The ex-mercenary shook his head, now looking mildly annoyed.

"You speak of problems, but you do not hold any more solutions than me, Patrizio. The mages inside will be as prepared as they can be. We cannot make our presence known to them without alerting the enemy, unless you have develop a form of telepathy or a way to render undead birds invisible - it is already a miracle that the messenger passed unseen twice over those fools who call themselves a garrison. Waiting here gains them nothing whatsoever. I still see no point in further delaying this."

"Telepathy is a good suggestion, thank you Roland. We need to look into communication or telepathy actually, for long-range communication. It would be mighty helpful in getting such attacks better coordinated. For now, we simply have to spend a little bit time doing things the old-fashioned way."

This time, Roland barked a powerful laugh.

"You miss sarcasm and then attempt humor, but you do not answer anything, Patrizio. You still haven't said a thing on how scouting could further help us - you merely speak of doing things the old-fashioned way, as if that put any enlightenment on why any of my points would be invalid. Unless you intend to dodge my questions forever, I suggest that you stop stalling and that we simply attack."

"How would scouting help us? I can't see why a person acquainted with military matters would even ask such a question. Obviously to get detailed info and encircle the enemy? Gain better ground and maybe even preserve and extend surprise? But surely one measly glance is enough for you. Its not like you got cut up last time."

"Last time, I got cut up by the only decent fighter in the village. Scouting won't help us spot which soldiers are more talented; it won't be required to encircle the enemy, unless you need a map, a compass and a native guide to avoid getting lost in plains, and it will put us at risk of being discovered rather than allow us to gain a better chance of surprising them. Try again, Patrizio. I am not convinced."
