"Sounds good, Jim. Let me just get some things. We're moving out, and we might as well pick this place apart for all that's left."

"The entire point of my asking you for subjects was to avoid having to interrupt working on the disease! If I had the time to go shopping for alchemical equipment in a fishing village of all places, I would have the time to go gather a few woodcutters and bring them back here for experiment, Patrizio. I would like to be able to focus my efforts!"

Detani turned to the shouting and smirked, then yelled jokingly "Hey, lovebirds, keep your martial spats quiet!"

"Well, you can continue your work, Detani and Jim are more than capable of doing that since they are going into town to scout out and establish some presence. They can buy the equipment and identify, potentially even find few hapless people for you. As I said, I want to provide some base resources for us, maybe even prepare a spot for a shift to a different location so I'd rather not get distracted either."

Patrizio turns to Detani.

"While you are at it boys, get that loot and buy some equipment for our resident alchemist. IF you find books or test subjects, that would be great too. also, have you heard anything useful when you were away last time? Anything happening in Garenia?"

Return to the lab. Attempt to make the disease capable of infecting water. Laugh maniacally whenever progress is made, with the amount of laugh being dictated by this formula:

"Apparently there's a crazy wizard near Norvak, who might be of some use. Garenia is full of refugees, which is messing it up very badly, even the Emperor's throwing gold at it to get some money flowing back in. I think the conditions are rough, as these merchants were planning on taking medicine there, so there's probably a lot of sickness. Maybe even a full blown plague, a refugee march would be exactly the right conditions for that sort of thing. Apart from that, not much."

"I personally am worried about the possibilities of this plague. We may end up creating it, but how do we know we can control it? We may be mages, but we are still human. We could possibly be infected almost as easily as our enemies. How about something more subtle, and potentially less deadly. Form a cult of personality, in a way. Zealots make some of the best soldiers, in my opinion. If we get it right, we'd have potentially 2 armies. Them in life, and then their servitude in death."

"Not much? This is great news! Plague and refugees is exactly what we need. Great masses o displaced people make for wonderful plague vectors and no one will miss thme. We could even infiltrate Garenia that way, pose as refugees too or as healers. No doubt this  plague means lot of dead corpses for us to use too, and we can shield ourselves with Roland's help. Corvus could go and check it out for us, tell us what disease is coming from the east and then we could plan around it. Scared refugees would quickly flock to any healer or cult that promises to save them."

"The very reason why I need test subjects is that I can't work on a cure without them. If not for that detail, I would simply release it on some backwater village - plenty of testing there! First, however, I must make sure it is no threat to us. Working without a live human being is limiting my capacity to play with anything else than its ability to spread."

"Wait... I could probably head towards where the refugees are coming from, and we develop a sort of cure. Then, we could bribe people with the cure, or even use the fact that the Emperor is not helping to stop it, besides trying to help the economy. The unhappy populace sides with us, and we seem to be the saviors of the people. The more righteous cause."

"The disease from the east seems to be natural. I do not think it is within my skill to cure a non-magical one, as magic is the only thing I can counter in this area. I simply do not possess the knowledge to work on a genuine plague, let alone grant immunity against it. Good idea, though."

"You don't need to. Terrified, panicked refugees will take anything. Offer your plague as a cure, and they'll line up from Garenia to Suomi.

After everyone else leaves

"The other place is guarded...well", Sholan gives a quick run down of what happened on the way there and after he got there. "The Wildmen could be a problem in the future, or a possible set of allies. They seem to acknowledge our kind as perhaps a distant cousin of sorts. They have their own walking dead among their ranks, but I don't speak the language so conversations were about as deep as a 'Don't kill me, I wont kill you' sort of thing with gestures of need for water"

Sholan seems puzzled and annoyed, "The shades were...something new to me. I don't believe any of us at the tower could handle restraining or controlling them. Honestly they seemed to exist of pure rage toward anything with a corporeal body"

Jim sighed as his suggestion regarding the barrels was completely ignored.  He was used to that kind of thing though.  The spirits had always been his only friends and as much as he had hoped that would change here, the little talk he had heard between the mages so far suggested a rather unfriendly environment.  Still, he belonged here more than anywhere else he had been and he hoped that as long as he carried his own weight, the others would be more or less accepting of him in time.

When Detani and I were in the town before, I got a chance to observe some of the diseased victims.  It wasn't pretty... and I got a very uncomfortable feeling that the plague may have roots in some sort of magic.

Actually if no one has any objections, I would like to take a small vial of the contaminated blood and perform some field experiments while we're on our trip.

Turning to Detani.
Take your time.  I want to study the flesh monster's remains a little bit before we leave anyway.

"Hmm, we can have a go at the wildmen once my mining operation is in full swing, I can probably raise enough golems to crush any resistance. I am most intrigued by those shades you spoke of. Its true, none of us possesses any skill when it comes to more advanced arcane energies and rituals. We operate with only base elements at the moment, getting a more advanced library to study and develop darkness as a sphere of knowledge is a key if we are to restore Cabal's full power."

Patrizio looked thoughtfully for a moment.
"I think we can postpone any move until we are sufficiently prepared and powered up."
