Suomi has been abandoned. Its people flee in the dead of winter to any nearby town.

Norvak A town approximately 300 people large. It seems to be primarily focused on cattle. But it is growing rapidly due to an influx of refugees. It is defended by a small fort garrisoned by veterans of the King's Army. It is affiliated with Welnshire.

Vis Valdi is a small fishing village on a river, somewhat northeast of Suomi. It might encompass all of 100 people. The people there live quiet lives, untroubled by most. Adventurers stop there frequently, traveling eastwards into the Wilds. The locals are somewhat standoffish.

The Tower, is ramshackle and old. It possesses few amenities currently. It is no longer secure.

Events:
---
Jerik, Sholan
[?] Blood magic does not come easily to you Jerik. You make some progress, but without the library, or a tutor this will be exceptionally slow going.
10% to Blood Magic.

Sholan, disgusted with the Catacombs, you return to the tower proper, and head for the ruins of the library. The floor is ankle deep in ash, even the bookshelves have mostly been destroyed. You sift through the ashes hoping against hope that something remained. [5] You find a serrated blade, that looks familiar. Unless you miss your guess, its the blade mentioned in the diary, and held by the Blacksmith. You cannot recall how its powerful, but it resonates with your own power when you lift it.

---
Patrizio, Helfd
The two of you, and some skeletons probe this strange tomb. Patrizio probes the area with magic, cautiously, a skeleton wanders into the tomb under orders, and Helfd lounges against a wall eating an apple.

And nothing happens. There is no magical energy here, at least none that can be detected. The two of you stride into the tomb, confident. And give it a thorough going-over.

[4,6] The tomb is mostly empty, the sarcophagus is the only thing of interest. The crystal runes are interesting, but after you probe them with magic, you find they possess no residual energy. That done, you crack the tomb open to see what is within.

Within, is a series of steps, leading deeper into the earth.

---
Roland
[?] You investigate the adjacent building, but find nothing. Screams from outside alert you and you run outside, and see a pair of teenaged youths darting off into the distance, nimbly evading your ghouls. The ghouls pursue, but are unable to catch the youths.
[?] One of them wheels about, a reasonable distance away and raises his hands, and one of your ghouls turns on the others, distracting them long enough that the youths can escape. That ghoul is of course cut down by yours.
Curious.

---
Detani, Jim
You travel onwards. This leg of the journey is uneventful. You are 1 turns travel from Norvak.

---
Flint
[5+1] With ease you sculpt the form of a man from the catacomb walls, and it animates with no trouble.
[3] Fortunately that wasn't a load bearing wall.
You follow after Sholan, who seems preoccupied, and now find your way to the exit of the Catacombs. You can leave at any time. But for now, you remain skulking down here.

The winter skies are calm for now.

Keep going.
Follow while ignoring the rather awkward silence of the journey.

(OOC: When I meet up with everyone, I would be happy to teach some Blood magic in return for learning some other types of magic)

My curiosity was relentless. There must be something down there, I knew it! Random fake tombs with backdoor tunnels are not constructed for no good reason. Whatever secret was buried at the bottom had to be worth it. But I would not rush ahead, precautions had to be taken.

"Helfd, you going? You can go back up if you want."

Descend down the tunnel. Send the skeleton first, ensure I have a protective ward on myself or can cast one in a pinch.

Attempt to kill the youths using blood magic. If it fails or they are too far, hunt them down.

search the catacombs for useful artifacts and necromancers that dont have large numbers of undead following them.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

"Found you...", Sholan was a little excited to find the blade laying on the ground in the ruins of the Library. After finding out the blacksmith had been holding the blade, he had wondered what would come of it. Knowing the blacksmith came with the raid on the tower meant there was a chance it would have been left behind, but it was a slim one. Regardless...

"Let's see what he wanted to protect so badly..."

Examine and study the blade

Events:
---
Jerik, Sholan
[2] This week your studies are irritatingly slow. You can barely focus and you're not sure why.

[?] Sholan, you know not where to begin studying this blade. It has a fine edge and is well crafted, and it resonates well with the blood magic you apply to it. But you have no training in discerning the properties of a magical item, and no reference material to consult.
---
Patrizio, Helfd
[?] Helfd pries away at the crystals embedded in the sarcophagus but makes no progress at dislodging them. He does however manage to crack several of them.

Meanwhile, Patrizio heads deeper, down the steps with a vanguard of skeletal minions. This section of the ruins is dusty and rubble lies strewn across the area. The air is moist and old smelling. There are only a few rooms, and they are easily searched. Within you find a skeleton wearing tattered robes slumped over a plinth with a heavy leather-bound book. There is an old rusted dagger lying on the ground near the skeleton. Another room is a bedchamber with two beds. The third room is barred. [?] But you do not let that impede your progress. A few short incantations later and you've created a path into the room. Within you find a rather detailed map carved into the stone of the wall. The map however seems somewhat dated, it has Suomi, and these ruins, but no tower, and a few other locations you're not sure of. Two lie within the heavy forest to the south and west. Another lies NE, past Suomi, and past a river.

Additionally, sitting on a stand in one corner, is a suit of armor of shaped rock. It glitters in the light, and on closer inspection you find it has some crystal throughout it. You also find a small pile of precious gems worth perhaps 2 Loot tokens.
---
Roland
[4,2] Their feeble conjurings are no match for the might of a true and trained Mage. You gauge their distance and attempt to bring them down with a well placed spell. But alas your magic is not up to the task. It would seem you've neglected your magical training, in favor of being more talented physically. They easily escape into the forest after your spellcraft fails.
You gather up your ghouls, and prepare to track them. But there's some lingering effects from the youth's spell, your ghouls are a tad difficult to call to order. It takes precious time to gather them up.
Not knowing much about tracking, you decide to forego running down those youths, for now.
---
Detani, Jim
Together the two of you arrive in Norvak. The town is bustling and seems to be in an uproar. Priests are preaching doom and salvation on the street corners. The two of you take it upon yourself to find out what is happening and you find out that news is coming from the East about the plague, and also that some of the tribes of the Wilds are raiding deep into the border kingdoms. There are also scattered rumors of necromancers.
---
Flint
[1] You scour the catacomb, but find very little. Just dust, scattered bones, and ancient spider webs. These upper levels have clearly been picked clean.

---
Events in Near Proximity:

Heavy storm clouds are visible in the south.

At first sight the place did not look more than hideout of another mage or mystic, it was a great find nonetheless. I took quickly to plundering its contents.

Secure the book, armor and dagger, using skeletons to retrieve them in case they are cursed or booby-trapped. Take the gems. Make note of the locations on the map and leave.

Continue attempting to learn Blood magic, or failing that, continue fortifying the palisade.
