Actually it is exactly that. People set this so that anytime someone posts they get a message on their email telling them there was a post.

So they, of course, run here to see if there was a giveaway only to see there is some inane discussion.

Though the thing is, I am not sure that counts as "derailing" as this isn't a topic that has a topic so to speak.

I don't have any forums sending me emails. I get enough spam as it is. I just read this thread about like I read the others, if I happen to see a game someone hasn't claimed that I want, good, if not I enjoy the conversation all the same.

And all the extra posts on here just means that only the people who are really interested get the games - everyone else goes "Bah! It's probably another inane post from MrWiggles! I'll check it later!" when hemmingjay has posted "I'm giving away this list of games!"
