LCS Tactics.
« on: January 24, 2013, 10:34:47 pm »

So, I thought it would be an... Okay idea, not good or bad, to share how we play the game specificly to help players both new and old.

I, personally, always start with Nightmare Mode on, and depending on how I feel when I start the game I turns on the CCS as well. After that I go to the Homeless Shelter and pick up 6 mutants, and have them all "Soliciate Donations" no mater what the game suggests. Then when I have enough money Ill upgrade a safehouse entiely, minus the AA Guns, since it will take to long to raise the funds. As well as I will buy them all M4 Carabines.

After that, I have my fighters kill people at places like the park until they have 3 or 4 rifle skill and then start killing cops for armour. If Im lucky Ill be able to get some SWAT Raids and get them SWAT Armour before I start getting raided by the military.

Whenever I get someone to 9 Rifle skill, Ill upgrade them to an M16 until they get 19 Rifle skill, than I give them an AK-47. I do this because the M4 is the most accurate rifle in game, but also does the least damage. M16 does moderate damage, but is the second most accurate. Then the AK does the most damage, but the least accurate as well, so when people get better and don't need the extra accuracy, I move them up.

Lastly, when my people have juice enough to get 6 people, and more people are liberal, Ill go out and have them recruit people to shoot as backup during raids, and as backups in the possiblity someone in the main squad dies.

But since the backup people would be virtually useless if I only used them during raids, I set them to hack for stories for the Liberal Guardian, and a few to steal credit card numbers.

Doing this, Ive been able to engage people before they enter the safehouse, hold down [F] and not worry about a thing.

Seems like a good idea, so here I go.

I always play with nightmare mode on. My first aim in the game is making sure I have at least 100,000$ after the first 2-3 months to make sure I never have to deal with making money again.

I make sure my leader is agile and charismatic. First I steal cars and sell them until I have around 4000$. Then I kidnap some unimportant people and brainwash them to increase my Psychology skill. I also steal stuff which increases my Juice, Stealth and Disguise skills, which comes handy when you have to sneak into buildings to find important people (like special CEOs) to brainwash.

Then, when I have enough Psychology skill, I kidnap 2 special CEOs from that corporate building at the outskirts of the city. After I brainwash them and make them my Sleepers, I make sure they both embezzle money, which turns in around 100,000$ each month. If I fail, I increase my Seduction, Psychology, Disguise, Security and Stealth skills (according to the which part I failed) and try again.

Okay, we are done with setting up out finances but we still don't have enough party members. Since money isn't an issue anymore, I upgrade my every safehouse to the limit. Then, I kidnap 3 people (who are either Agents or special CEOs) and brainwash them. Then, I make them stay at the base. These guys have the highest fighting skills. Their Dodge skill is so high, they can dodge bullets Matrix-style.

We have 4 people in the squad right now (3 CEOs or Agents and the leader) so we still have enough space for 2 people in our main squad. I recruit 2 people who have the social skills (aka prostitutes). Then, (this is optional) I recruit hackers, writers and other kinds of people for my secondary squads and to provide support without fighting. I recruit them using my leader and two other members I recruited. My 6-man main squad is ready but still not ready to start killing people. I have all of my guys learn Teaching at the college for a week or two. Then I start all 6 of them teaching each other stuff, and if I recruited other people too, they learn some things too which comes handy later.

When I feel like their training is complete. I send them all out to kill and destroy as much as they can. Destroy machinery, cause nuclear meltdowns, dig up dirt to publish in the newspaper, take control of the radio and the television, massacre people, and steal flowers from the neighbor's garden.

Then I disband and wait.

I start in Nightmare mode, sometimes with We Didn't Start the Fire. The first thing I always do is send my founder around stealing and picking locks until s/he has 200 juice and decent security skill. I recruit as many people as possible and have them run with my founder until they also have decent security with anyone left over staying at the shelter and making music. After that I put the recruits in a new squad (leftovers still at the shelter), equip them with whatever weapons I have, and send them on a killing spree; upgrading their weapons to firearms when possible.

When they are fully equipped with firearms they rob the bank (by passing a note) and then proceed to raid the police station killing and looting as much as possible, so we can have max enhancements on one safehouse and secrecy on all of them. Inbetween raids they repair clothing and after a few raids we now have M16s and AK47s with enough body armor to equip a small army. The most experienced raider learns to teach and recruits 6 yoga instructers or veterens. The founder takes them on a few walks to gain security, and then their recruiter teaches until they have some decent skills.

This new squad steals and vandalises until 200 juice (with the originals still raiding). The new squad does community service for a long time with the founder teaching infiltration skills as the first squad is slowly killed off in raids. When the old squad only has 1-2 liberals and your liberals will actually be arrested by the police instead of shot (if that isn't possible the fight continues) they are tried, convicted and busted out of jail by the newer squad.

We then do community service and wait while recruiting people to pull in more money. At this time we abduct and recruit sleepers, usually police officers, judges, and guard dogs. Sell off police body armor until a max of 200 is in a safe house and maybe do a real bank robbery. We then get hackers; the most skilled and liberal members go out and recruit their own squads to teach.

We then gun for the CCS exclusively and only take down the final safehouse after we have a sleeper net of at least 30. We take it out, expand the net through our sleepers, and then do a massive raid on every place until they close down a few times. The remains of the original raiders then take out the police station until community service prevents heat from gaining on our safehouses (except for the raiders). The raiders are arrested, convicted, busted out, and then found innocent (if they're found guilty again the are freed again and we wait for the pardon).

After that we only raid when issues start losing support and in the late game (3/5s liberal) everyone is cleared of all charges.

Nightmare, with CCS.  Generally focus on Intelligence/Agility for the Founder, who picks locks at the various Apartments by day and talks to people by night.  Probably start with Hippies as focusing away from Charisma means less Persuade, but the first folks really should be Mutants.

Once we've got Security down, get a Sweatshop Worker (Fashion Designers are good too, but typically can't level Tailoring until they Juice up, so a toss-up).  Making Work Clothes, Lab Coats, and Black Robes in that order handles most sites.  Sleeper Lawyer & judges are the first target, then spread the love around.  Juice comes from machinery-smashing, animal-freeing, and petty thefts.

Money--typically legal selling* until we start laying in a supply of firearms, then we start holding bake sales.  Feel free to shoot the Death Squad, but they don't bother my people that often.  (Help this by having people with Street Sense teach it--every point helps.)

*Music for anyone less than 8 Agility or so; Art otherwise.  Artists will be used for Graffiti once the Death Squads are gone, as 10 AG is usually enough to escape police.

Midgame tends to start looking for Programmers, Army Veterans, & Doctors to help train technical skills.  Once the petty-thieves can reliably steal from the MilBase, we start laying in a few Psychologists & Prostitutes to train the more covert personnel-acquisition aspects.   Liberal Guardian should be coming online by now, too.

CCS gets ground for combat Juice & XP; get and publish a Backer List for the boost to the Agenda (Police Regulation = L, removes some C+ legislators), then killed once I have enough sleepers for the 200 Juice.  By this point, it's pretty much just keeping the issues safe and waiting for the wheels of politics to grind.

Damn, sounds like a lot of managing and though is needed, probably a pain in the ass as well, but it sounds like it gets the job done.

Well, it is a lot of microing and work in the early going.  Tougher to make the changeover to Black/Expensive Suits in the new Tailoring progression (needed for IntHQ/Cable News, CorpHQ, and CEO House), but enough Fine Cloth can push things through.  Military Spending tends to be the toughest issue to affect as vandalizing/thieving from the MilBase only does so much.

As for why such a slow approach?  I hate taking casualties. Wounding is bad enough, significant injuries (the ones that get a specific description) are extremely worrisome, and martyrs are unacceptable.  We win the war by making the CCS die for their ideals.

I'll have to amend that post, though, as I just printed the anti-CCS again and it turns out that it only moves Police Regulation two steps toward L+, rather than setting it to L.  SupCt had pushed it back to C+ from C this time, and the FBI HUNTS CCS then moved it to M.  I guess it had been on C the last time I got that effect and I hadn't noticed.  Sorry, all.

I'd thought that the AK & M16 were identical in performance terms.  Will take another look at the XMLs.

Nightmare, sometimes with CCS, sometimes without.

Start with a high AG founder, little lockpicking skill, everything else is optional.

Founder robs houses and talks to mutants till he gets 5 good ones, in between, tries to hump every likely person s/he comes across, any who fall for it run drugs till they get slaughtered.  Steal with the muties till they get to 200 juice, then sell all the stuff and they learn dodge, first aid, teaching, etc at the university.  More super muties are recruited in between times till I have about 8.  These guys hit up the sweatshop and grab some workers, then start killing.  They stay in a base with the workers, founder living in the luxury apartments, still hopefully without any charges.  Along the way pick up a few prostitutes, they get juiced up by the founder and go seducing, looking for crap sleepers for maps, a fashion person for good clothes, writer or 2 and some hackers.  Clean people go live with the founder, others go to the muties, anyone with decent combat stats gets taught by the muties till I have 2 full combat squads +extras in bases.  Muties continue to slaughter and raid, start taking hostages, getting good sleepers etc.

Somewhere along the way I usually have someone pick up spare squads with the right stats that I turn into drug runners, graf artists and a guitar squad I usually never use.

I slaughter, destroy, rob and undermine the government for a while, then I get bored and declare personal victory.

How on earth do you do this

First I steal cars and sell them until I have around 4000$.

And this?

Then, when I have enough Psychology skill, I kidnap 2 special CEOs from that corporate building at the outskirts of the city.
(snip)
Then, I kidnap 3 people (who are either Agents or special CEOs) and brainwash them. Then, I make them stay at the base. These guys have the highest fighting skills. Their Dodge skill is so high, they can dodge bullets Matrix-style.

My used car person won't buy my stolen cars, and when I try to kidnap CEOs or Agents, even in full armour with a M30, it says the target is too dangerous.

When you are trying to kidnap a CEO or an Agent, first seduce them and then kidnap them when you go out a date with them. It's going to take a lot of Seduction skill to seduce them. That's why I said,
If I fail, I increase my Seduction, Psychology, Disguise, Security and Stealth skills (according to the which part I failed) and try again.

Disguise, Security and Stealth skills are for finding the CEO or an agent without alarming everybody.
Seduction is for seducing the conservatives.
Psychology is for brainwashing them.

Yeah, it's difficult. For me, it takes around 2 or 3 months for me to increase my skills enough to pull this off. That's why I always choose the options that gives bonuses to these skills at the start of the game. You can increase Security by going to an apartment and lockpicking every door you find. You can increase Disguise and Stealth by hanging around in illegal places with an appropriate disguise. For Seduction, try to seduce everything that moves.

About stolen cars, I don't know about that. My used cars guy buys my cars all the time. What does it say when you try to sell cars?

Huh, that's weird. Are you playing with the vanilla 4.06.4 version?

When you're trying to sell a car at the store, you should get something like this.

I aim for an intelligent+Charismatic founder. Last option I pick the "surviving on my own" choice.
I have been playing with CCS enabled, nightmare mode, all laws must be elite liberal, and extended endgame.

Begin by performing activism until at activist levels. Then, train persuasion by hosting large hippie meetings (but never recruiting anyone), and selling brownies for street sense and marginal persuasion training. When Persuasion is maxed out, head to courthouse and seduce everything that moves until that's maxed out as well. Set up lots of dates (3, 4 a night), stringing them along to keep training. When Seduction is maxed, begin recruiting members, a few soldiers. Make LOTS of money from brownies at this point for a few weeks. When ready, handicap agents on dates and train psychology on them, with founder, then have soldiers kill them because they're tough cookies. Shift locations, repeat until psychology on founder is maxed. When an Agent finally breaks, repeat process, but attempt to recruit someone with 9 rifle. Have him teach entire team combat skills.

At this point, it's time to begin the real work. Recruit additional soldiers until I have 6 recruits. Arm each with an M4 carbine. Begin tailoring body armor, and separate founder from this group. Keep the 9 rifle recruit separate as well.

The 6 soldiers will head out with 6 m4's and 1800 rounds of ammunition, to a low threat location, the crack house. They will murder in ONE session until they reach about 500-1000 juice each. Then they will martyr themselves.

In this way, my founder gains juice, up to 1000, without ever gaining any heat. I will repeat the process, until this happens, recruiting more disposables, having them do a bit of activism and training them, then sending them out to die. Founder and person good at rifle sell brownies to sustain this process. Once the founder has a high enough heart, he will begin recruiting dogs instead, as they have exceedingly high agilities.

Then my founder begins training again, alongside his loyal lieutenant. At this point it is also a good idea to recruit several sleeper lawyers, and have them gain juice. The founder first learns a point of stealth, go to a location (the media centers work well) and sneak until his stealth is maxed. Then he will make suitable disguises and return until his disguise is maxed out. Then I send the founder to law school. Kidnap tons of justices and other important conservatives, and enlighten them. When the sleeper list is several pages long, I turn on advocate liberalism, and have my founder sneak into locations to undermine the government.

Within a few years, the game is usually won.
