Not too excited about Wind Waker HD, but then I was rather disappointed in the original.

Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei, though? I think I'll just leave my wallet at Nintendo HQ.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Maybe they should just make a new game to make a good game and not care about keeping the storyline consistent. Alternate timelines are easy enough to make.

Not like we haven't seen Nintendo stray off of a linear story arc before.

Considering that they already declared the Prime games non-canon to fit Other M in....

In any case, the real reason we won't be seeing any more Metroid any time soon is that Other M was utterly terrible and the current Metroid team sends terrible messages. I mean, for fucks sake, they made Samus short. In armor, no less. (That isn't by far the worst thing about Other M, but that bothered me the most.)

Mario has a story arc?

I was referring to LoZ, but yeah, Mario proves a better point.

Zelda has a linear story arc, though. Its just split up quadrilaterally (officially), or any number of groups for timeline theorists. And none of it is referenced ingame except in direct sequels. :P

If you're counting trilaterally you aren't counting pre-split as a seperate section.

How many times are they going to make Wind Waker?  A new Mario game every year is to be expected but they've made the same game like ten times it feels.

Are you talking about Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks?

It'd be nice if Nintendo stopped rehashing the same stuff, though.

Phantom Hourglass, I'll give that one. Both were boat-based, both were island-based, there was much sailing and cannoneering.
Spirit Tracks though, is completely different save the artstyle. Its full of train, minimal sea, no sailing, the train doesn't talk (though the ancient trainpeoples do), and ganondorf isn't mentioned anywhere I know of. The only link it has to wind waker aside from the artstyle is the three-link sequel chain WW started.
