Just after I unpaused, there goblin ambush revealed itself at our traps. A couple of lashers was captured, a few more died, and Silver finished their bowman leader who was injured by traps.
Peregar was finally buried in his magnificient tomb.

I started the project of getting the adamantime fo the last piece. We just need to obsidianize the surrounding magma and dig it down.

Nothing really happens here. Maybe I should start danger room training - first for Silver, then for the others.

The summer is over. We have a human caravan here with their guild representative, and we ordered whole load of marble and calcite from them. We need steel here! Next time we urgently need them to reach our place without disturb from goblins.

Everything is ok here. We're dumping all bodies that left in our traps, and I made a lock bridge to trade depot that also opens the shortway to depot when raised.

The work on obsidianize project goes on.

Oh, I actually found marble layer! then we don't really need traders. We can have stlle-clad warrioirs here by ourselfes. But we lack a skilled smith - both weapon and armor one. Need to train someone! let's make 30 shields to begin with.

Oh, there's a fire kite monster in the caverns! Luckily we don't meet it

So, here is the last update of my turn.
The winter came to end without any events. Our gate is now guarded by giant rattlesnake and giant spider. Also we've made a danger room next to siege workshop, be ready to test it!

We've almost finished the obsidianize project, but haven't tested it. That's how it should work - this is the top part:

and this is the down part:

See the marks and notes on the blueprints.

The goal is to border the vein with obsidianized barriers from magma sea, then get rid of magma somehow and dig whole vein out. Places where obsidian is to be formed with two slits - the inside section should protract one level down.
Also we've dug to marble layer and made a few steel bars. Need more charcoal though. And carrying stone to stockpile next to forges takes way too much time.

Also we DO NOT grow any plants, and DO NOT fish either. We have more than enough food and drinks for our small numbers.

and here's the save

At last I decided to take another turn in this fortress, it would be nice to end this.
Game runs at 40 FPS, so much stuff everywhere.

Half of Granite went calmly. I guess this will be rather boring year, fort is secured and no goblin will enter inside.

4th Slate
"The fortress attracted no migrants this season."
Geee, I wonder why.

About in half of Felsite 4 ambushes along with elven caravan shown up, they killed giant animals and they're going to trapped hallway.

Goblins fled when few their mates died to traps.

Late Hematite
Miasma spreads in entrance hallway. Looks like dwarves have no place to store corspes.

Late Summer
I made a little self-destruction "device"
When I will have to... hmm... make fort inaccessible for everybody, I will tell to dig out few rocks to let magma flow inside fortress.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Now I will try that device peregarrett made, I want to see how that works.

It created some obsidian walls on magma's surface, but it seems to be useless. Getting rid of magma would take too much time for me.

Btw. Humans caravan arrived, I will sell some lead goblets for flux peregarrett asked for.

I think about doing something crazy. FPS is low, lot of stuff, I need to refresh memory about everything in this quite big fort, children grow too slow, no challenge from goblins due to OP trapped hallway. No way to get siege because we have too low population.
Maybe try to piss off humans and elves? That would be fun.

I can take a turn and try to rehabilitate the FPS rate, if that would help... I am going to have to use a tileset (probably Mayday), though, because the ASCII eyef##k is not something I can deal with  :)

Still, happy to offer a year of cleanup.

I'm new to succession forts in general, yes, but do all forts designed by multiple overseers inevitably degenerate into a body-filled labyrinth of chaos and despair like this? Or is this just a Battlefailed thing?
