Real challenge? Peasants.
This would be a viable tactic if there were proper ragdoll physics and you could carry a great deal more arrows. Pin your enemies in place with hundreds of peasant corpses, then pick them off one by one with your bow.

Sorry if I don't update for a while, I think I might have the flu or some similar disease. Keep sending nation suggestions in, though!

If its blood and steel, swadia is a good starting location, the big mobs of bandits are mostly archers, so heavy foot can stomp them.  I believe the kergits get the nest of bees arty unit though, and they are hilarious.

Nords. We can recruit Rhodok crossbowmen later. HUSCAAAAARL SHIEEEELD WAAAAALL.
+1

We may be a peasant revolutionary, but we seek nothing more than to crush the petty kingdoms of Calradia under the boots of our Northern brethren in our undying quest to become Empress and restore the Empire.

I find Huscarls and their shields to be a little overpowered in Vanilla. Is that fixed in this mod?

This mod is a completely different game, includes guns, cannons, grenades, giant steam powered artillery mechs, all the factions are completely reworked, while they still retain alot of their 'flavor' you really cant compare it to vanilla.  One of the norses top tier melee units are 2H hammer wielding guys who can run almost as fast as cavalry

Blasted crackers, I change my vote to the Nords, then. Hammers are rad.

I'm back, and I (almost) don't have the flu anymore! It seems that the Nords have won the vote, so off to Sargoth we go!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Something seems to be amiss, though...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Eh? What's that at the end of the bridge?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh no, ghosts?! Not again! Ghosts happen too often!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And behind them are the Iron Giants, but these ones aren't voiced by Vin Diesel. As you can imagine, they aren't very friendly. They are also actually called Flesh Golems.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ghosties, no!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We were expected to lose this battle, and we met the expectation.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We wake up in a log cabin, with our good friend Merchant of Sargoth.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

He offers us a quest and no explanation for why we were steamrolled by a bunch of trick-or-treaters.

So, what do we say?

Do the quest.

And for the record, congratulations on your performance at that battle!  It's almost unwinnable, but you still managed to gain enormous throwing skill ups!
