Corvus spoke again to the Guardians. To the rest of the pantheon, he had appeared in deep thought.

"I agree. Your logic seems sound, Kar'Lan."

"I would normally agree to it, but I must use my strength to revive the vegetation of this world. After that I promise I shall."

"And I'll have to use it to subtly influence them. I have no power for direct action."

'Then we will wait. For even the strongest mortal will fall if they stand alone, so all must rise together. Although Corvus, I would ask that you do not direct the one called Gren Grensson to my lands. He has shown that he has little love for me or my people, and I would not risk his pestilence taking them for him.'

"I watched the conversation between you. I have directed him to command his people only to protect them."

'Thank you. I wish him no harm, but he does not appear to see it likewise.'

"I wish to help him and his people, but he seems set on killing Un'Girlan..."

She tilts her head to the side slightly, still waiting, allowing herself to be ignored as their conversation continues. She had come late, so it was understandable... but she had found that she had a good reason to speak up now, reasoning out the flow of their conversation.

"Excuse me, if I might... Would you mind allowing me to speak? I believe that I would like to help with your plans, if you will allow me to. I am aware you've little reason to trust me, but I would be willing to find a way to prove my worth if you would turn away my aid without it."

"Indeed....Fatianna, is it? I think so....you have revealed yourself and so I can finally sense you properly.

It feels so cathartic to FINALLY be able to detect you fully.

And what exactly would you contribute, should we trust you?"

Corvus spoke to her without turning. By this time, he was used to speaking to people speaking to him from everywhere.

She remains still, not seeming to care in the least.

"I am capable in helping in a few ways. I can provide a safe, hidden place for your Champions to train and be empowered, even from the other gods. I can keep them secret, keep them safe from paranoid gods who would want to destroy them, whether from fear of their power, or of our control over them. And, in the most extreme case..."

She looks between them, silent for a short time.

"In the most extreme case, I may be able to shroud a small planetoid from the sight of the creature, if we are forced to take a longer-term strategy."

'What proof do you give though that you wish to further our cause? All of us here have given something to mortals. But you? I have not heard of you. As much of a testament to your abilities as this is, it will not aid you now.'

"She is a newcomer. I sensed, or rather, DIDN'T sense, her enter the universe.

She was recently fleeing the Devourer."

'The Devourer yet again. And you escaped? Impressive indeed. perhaps we do share a common enemy after all. But to defend our Champions, we first need to make them.'

She nods slowly, crossing her arms.

"This is true. I will help with this momentarily, but unfortunately I do not have much time here. As soon as I have confirmed that the Devourer has vacated the defensive area, I must return to speak to the one who guards the gate, for I would not wish to have him angry at me for my leaving before he could speak to me."

"The Devourer is...wait...."

Corvus saw a discrepancy in his memory. He couldn't see the moment when Vasvaldi sealed off the Devourer.

Why couldn't he remember that? It was merely two hours ago...
