I've found looking around to be troublesome from inside the cab but that's from using mouse driving.

I picked a TV set, couch, and office chair from the street. My scavengin' > your thrift shoppin'.

I also dumpster dive and learned to build computers by taking apart old ones. My 5 1/4" hard drive scoffs at your TV. TV's, couches, and chairs are common on street corners. It's too bad the streets of Europe seem so clean in Euro Truck Sim 2. We can't run over garbage cans and get fined.

Yes, imagine World of Trucks, an online persistent-based MMO trucking game. Imagine having to deliver three trailers for a single high value job and doing it with your friends (who co-own your trucking business or are your employees).

I have been playing with mouse and keyboard since all I have is a joystick but it's working fine so far. This game does require concentration though, as I have made genuine mistake when I was playing this game sleepily. I started from scratch again since in my first run I took the bank loans too early and felt should have built up my skills first.

I'd recommend doing jobs til you are offered 500,000 euros credit limit by the bank and saving up 30,000 euros yourself. My budget consists of:
Upgrading the garage to accommodate three trucks -- 180,000 euros
Buying three trucks with no blings at all (cheapest models I could get) -- 310,000 euros max
Drivers hiring fee -- 3,000 euros
Total costs -- 493,000 euros

That should leave you with enough emergency funds to cover loan repayments (7,000ish euros/day) and running costs (driver wages, fuel, repair, etc.).

Also be careful when driving in the UK because their speed limits are ridiculous and change frequently. I racked up so much fine yesterday when driving in between their cities. Never had that issue with other European countries.

I think one of German cities is best as starting city (where your first garage will be located) due to its "central" position relative to other cities around it. Munich would be my choice but I am role playing a French female trucking company so I went with Metz.

Of course I've put a lot of time in civilian flight sims on the 360 controller as well, so I'm used to long periods of holding it with only minor adjustments here and there.

Same here, except with the PS3 Dualshock, which I find more comfortable for long periods of gaming. Only problem was my driver kept looking the fuck everywhere before I finally realized the PS3 controller mapper I was using (since PS3 controllers arent plug n play) had decided the sixaxis and the right thumb stick should be the same axis as reported to the computer. So if I tilted the controller even a little my guy would start staring at the floor.

That's like taking your hands off the wheel and moving your head with your hands. I don't recommend it.

I am based out of Milan which I would recommend to anyone. A lot of easy trips into Switzerland and Germany to start, almost all around 200 miles which is good for your AI drivers. I am making around 25k a day between the three of us, which isn't too bad.

I also wish to amend my earlier declaration about Scania(now feels so floaty in steering) and declare Valiant to be king of the road.

P.S. I would love a CB radio mod, using TS or something similar so I can chat with you fine folks while on the long haul.

The cheapo Scania truck holds so much gas though!
And the Teamspeak thing, just warning you, I'll have to talk like a 'Murican truck driver if that happens.

No, Scania is best because it has the largest mirrors and a GPS display on the dashboard (once you upgrade the interior).

Could someone try and explain the appeal of this game to me?  I just flat out don't get it at all.  Also, is it 1:1 scale?  Like, does it actually take an hour to go 60 miles at 60mph?

I'd imagine because it's relatively relaxing compared to most games.

No, timescales are compressed somewhat.

I don't get it. This game is so boring and simple but I keep coming back to. I do a few runs every now and then and I have a lot of fun.

I don't like the fact that you need to level to buy better trucks tho. I mean, I have the money but I can't buy the bestest trucks with the coolest accessories yet.
