Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Forever Truckin'
« on: January 18, 2013, 08:33:48 pm »

For anyone who does not know about this game, it is a game in which you drive a truck to deliver goods across Europe and you setup a trucking business for which AI drivers work for you. There is also a great level of customisation on your trucks, from paintjobs to chasis to engine. There are cities to visit in Western Europe, from the UK all the way to Poland and Italy.

Good intro video:

I have to say the cities are not polished, they are functional in the sense that you get to pick up or drop trailers, buy/upgrade trucks, and the likes, but don't expect to see a detailed virtual copy of these cities. Despite this flaw, I somehow found it to be addictive. I started my own business, Moonlit Lovers Trucking in Paris, and only accept female drivers. Currently I only have two trucks, one of which is driven by me, a small garage in Paris, and 384,000 Euros loan to pay, but hey business is going good, so I am on my way to save for a third truck.

Is anyone else hooked to this?

Mouse driving is okay but I've been looking at my local thrift store for a cheap wheel and maybe pedals.

Did you manage to also snag something to make you a cold-ass honky?

I am so tempted to get this as I even enjoyed the buggy mess with a heart of gold  that was Rig and Roll. The price has kept me at bay so far...........ooops, just bought it. Damn you! Now I have to learn to drive on the wrong side of the road.

Edit: I paid $19.99 for the Steam key at CJS.

This needs a dubstep trailer like Farming Simulator, should make it a lot more viral.

I've played a bit of a first one at my friends, it was similar to jefs messing around. I also heard that there's a bunch of mods coming out for the game(s) which make it a lot more fun by adding cities and trucks and stuff like that.

Because that is exactly what it is. It drives pretty damn well with keyboard and mouse, has a business sim inside of it and it combines tense moments with relaxation. Best $20 I have spent in a while.

And having your own music in it greatly helps (or listening to live radio), the only issue is mass-converting stuff to .ogg format.
