One gassy entrance later you find the old man sitting in a chair with a crossbow. There's a short moment of deathly silence as he looks at you, then he looks down at his crossbow. His hand twitches.
He fires it off, and manages to miss completely(roll=12). You turn into a horse and trot over to the man.
He screams as you rear up, then you bring your full weight down on his legs, splintering his chair and his legs. He will never walk again, even if he would survive this.
You'll make sure of it that he won't, of course. Then again, he just fainted from shock. There's a good chance that'll kill him outright.(roll=2)
And then he stops breathing(Roll=2). You can see his soul leaving the body, looking peaceful.
You stomp your hooves in anger. A dry crack comes forth from beneath you, releasing a small deluge of dust and bugs. When the dust clears, you see that the hole is growing from all the woodworm damage and your own weight.
You trip, and fall down into his basement. You would scream if the air wasn't knocked out of you.
You pull yourself back up, and mentally prepare yourself for the disappointed walk back. However...
Looks like the old man was an adventurer in his younger years, and like all adventurers, they keep their loot around just like the dragons they like to fight. You could make an ironic statement, but it's probably clear enough.
You've got some spending money, and a sword that has hilt covered in dragon scales. It's too old to be anything more then something pretty to put over the stove, but you take it along anyways. So this wasn't a complete waste of time.
When you walk past the body again, Mort contacts you and gives you props for a job well done, though he'd prefer a less painful technique. Still, passing away in their sleep, even shock-induced, is good enough. B plus.
FUUUUCK you hate this guy.
