Priestess is a pretty good judge of character, so try to keep some contingency plans, but this has the potential to be a pretty good deal so we may as well see what we can do to help. The primary thing to watch out for is being imprisoned and harvested, although getting milked for poison is also pretty degrading...

I'd rather just possess him.  Inside his mind we could always torture him for more information but I definitely don't think it's a good idea to follow him into a potential trap.

Sounds like a plan!

You assault him, and enter his mind. When you open up your eyes, and see your new vision (heat vision! Cuz ur a snake n' shit)
Looking around, you see that there are a lot of things here. Alleyways, an old house, two skeletons under a beam....
He did not have a happy life, that's for sure.
Did you really just do that? Why would you ever try to posses a courier for the Collectors.
You spot him. He's standing in what seems like a still image of a sort of council. Mane people with robes, and a single man with blade-mail on sitting on a throne.

Come on, bring out your threatening demon form, entity. I know your type!
There's a lot of debris on the ground, so you can probably sneak up on him. And he doesn't expect your smaller form.
You sneak up on him, and get the drop on him, giving you a big roll bonus. (roll= 16 +2 unaware target +2 debris=20)
You strike, and hit him in his spine. You fangs go right through his leather armor, and your poison enters his body. (your roll= 19 + 5 Critical sneak succes=24)

The sensitive spot clearly harms him by a lot, and he falls to the floor, clutching his throat.
You move up for another attack, and hit him square in his throat, hitting a major artery. (your roll= 20)
He attempts to scream, but his throat is hit badly. He falls to the floor, dead.
You open your eyes, and see your priestess looking confused for a bit, then smiling when she sees you look.

This went miraculously well! What now?

Wow, just wow. That was a ridiculous amount of luck, right there. I didn't plan on it being such a short battle. Mongoose was made to be rather capable in fighting you off.

You are able to take a stroll through his mind, yes.
His deepest and most important ones tend to be locked until you destroy his soul as well.
A reminder, souls are tougher then minds, but you gain a substantial amount of evil for it and access to some memories and, in some rare cases, special abilities.

Does time stop outside while we explore his mind?  If yes then I say we explore a little.

You take a look through Mongoose's mind, gathering up his basic history.
What happened to his parents is unclear, and the soul put up a block around it. But you can see how he got where he is now.
An orphan on the street is quickly taken in by crime gangs. In his case, it was the Collectors. They mainly kept themselves busy using extorsion and "tolls".
They grew in power a few years after Mongoose started training. They moved up to assassinations and other mercenary work.

Now they are quite capable, and Mongoose is one of their best runners and he's quick with a blade. Having to fight with dogs to get his food tends to teach you that.
His teacher was very hard, but he was a fair man. A veteran in the Necromancer War.
Veterans are not looked upon with kindness after they settle down. Mainly due to people figuring that, if he's powerful enough to survive, he wouldn't just go into retirement.
This veteran lost his honor, his money, his family and the use of his left leg after a lynching by some necromancer sympathisers.

Mongoose was trained in dealing with possessing forces because of his remarkable capability in mind-fighting.
At least, he had clothes and weapons when they tried. He was also trained to expect entities to assume huge, threatening demon forms.
Snakes are not expected, that's for sure.
The mind-walk also gives the location of many bases throughout the city belonging to the collectors, though the main base is blocked off.
You could possibly gain more info if you knew what to look for, but for now you're done looking around.

Well I would be tempted to look for his specific intentions towards us personally.

I'd like to know how he knew about us and what he planned to do with us.  After that maybe go infiltrate his organization.  Kill off the people in command and assume control.

You look around in his mind some more. As it turns out, the halfling works for the Collectors. After they got back from a very successful raiding party against some very disorganized goblins.
They even collected all the loot in the same spot! If goblins break their traditions, it usually means something possessing is roaming about. Most commonly, an entity of some kind.
So after they got done, the realization that the wisp was an entity didn't follow far behind.
A look around revealed a rotted piece on an otherwise healthy tree and a foul smell, meaning it was probably an entity of Put.

So, when people found the lady with the staff of rot and a green "wisp", it wasn't hard to figure that they probably have access to some pretty interesting spells. Mainly a way to harvest Deathrot leaves(Beastiary updated!).
The location of the nearest base is the basement of the louche bar nearby. When you enter, all the patrons at the bar look pleased upon seeing the priestess.
Then they see you, and their looks fade to displeasure.
You just need to enter the basement to do whatever it is you really want to do.
