A reagent is anything with at least one tier of affinity (Dark, Acid, etc) and no other use. Currently their only known use, I believe, is to be placed into the Skill Tree and eventually transmuted to a skill, but there's probably other uses. I think they were also mentioned in conjunction with the Dark Cathedral, but I forget if that was hypothetical or known.

Skills are things that take up inventory slots and can be cast and stuff. Like Locking Glass and Double Stomp and All's Magical disco balls.

I assume that's what the class tree does; creates class skills/skill points, such as Cheating +0/+0.
Which would require something like Awesome Tier 3 and Copy Tier 2 to craft, and we'd need to clear two dungeon levels in the time it takes to craft it. Not to mention getting a class tree in the first place.
