I think that Oric's motive to kill Kit Kat was actually a GM one: do not break the game copying the final boss. Because, you know, that could have granted us the possibility to cheese everything.

Nah, Kit Kat had a few fatal flaws, one of which was that it could only copy as many inventory slots as it had - It's why Dark Al had no bartering ram. Oric would just have had to arrange his inventory so the crazier abilities were in the later slots, and most of the potential Kat shenanigans would have been foiled.
