What would happen if we tried to transfer soul charge to someone from Madoka Magica (sp?) ? Soul gems of madoka's world become corrupted by grief, wheras in the warrens, feeling grief is incredibly healthy...though so is feeling much of anything. 

It keeps your soul running, not exactly healthy.
No soul charge means your soul stops working.

In madoka, souls don't deplete. They just get burdened. SO filling someone's Soul Gem would just give them charge, but not likely repair grief.

Entropy is symbolic in PMMM. Kyubey's goal is actually a universe-wide parallel to each magical girl's goal: fending off the heat death of the universe/their soul. Once a magical girl's soul reaches maximum grief/disorder/entropy, the last remaining order - its closed system (shell) - breaks apart. They can only decrease their personal entropy/grief by killing witches, but without magical girls who fail their mission and turn into witches, they can't stave off their soul death!

It was always a futile quest before Madoka came along. It looks like they're decreasing their grief, but they're doing so only by continuing the worldwide cycle of grief. If all witches were eliminated, they would not be able to purify their grief, and they would turn into the world's new witches.

TWoOtA is the opposite. Anything that's not equanimity increases soul charge. Bad Things happen only when disorder is zero (no soul charge). That's why Ciro's quest is not futile: it's much easier to ripple still water than still ripply water.

In this game, everyone can benefit from a little chaos.

Spoiler: Probably very wrong theory about Yaos and his Soul Star (click to show/hide)

We're fairly certain that the red numbers drain soul charge from Yaos (Unless I've missed something obvious), and it's confirmed that the blue numbers restore SP. It could be that the way to save Yaos (If possible at all) was to try and get him to not be essentially emotionless, and in doing so have him build up soul charge to offset the hits he was taking from the Insolvent Thaumaturge. Also, notice that the Great Gem never fills up, and we never see Yaos use any of the Purple Gems he receives from his star. I think that their purpose might have been to give him progress towards getting a Great Gem. Perhaps the Great Gem allowed him to regain soul charge, allowing him to not go Willborn without requiring a massive shift in personality and several traumatic experiences, if he could be convinced to use the purple gems. Alternatively, the Great Gem could be akin to our OVERSOUL, giving extreme power for a given duration. Perhaps it's even the great weapon he was seeking?
