So... What's Al's stake in all of this? Why the odd naming scheme he has for his soul star, his shifted star, the title he later on gets? I mean, he's a vampire and they're sometimes depicted as working with/for/having made a deal with the devil in some shape or form.

The Thief was trusted with an unbelievably powerful Soul Star. It granted him dominance over the Devil and ALL her sinister siblings. He could manage them, tell them exactly what they needed to do to run the place HIS way, under threat of retaliation. There were three such Soul Stars, but that's another story.

He was entrusted with a soul star. They gave him a soul? Did he not have one before? Does he now have two? But using someone else's soul star is very bad, apparently.

I have the feeling this could be very important.

If there are three such soul stars, and just one grants the power to overthrow what is probably a very powerful being, what happened to the others? Could we possibly utilise them?

Weeeell, just using a soulstar is fine. Several people have used the Influx' narrative control with no ill effects (other than, ya well, players inputting dumb commands). It could also mean that his soul was made into a soul star (lookin' at you there, QB).

I don't think Oric's soul star was MADE for him, there being two others implies that they existed before Oric entered the story.

He is imprisoned, so he cannot fight back efficiently anyway, especially against ranged attacks. When he is done, we'll have one less sociopath at our backs, and I fail to see any benefit he can provide to us by being alive.

Unless he has a ranged attack he can use against us. Also, sometimes security goes down, at which point Cain gets to move around.

This story, though.  The only thing that's keeping me from wondering if Cain is the Last Devil is the fact that Cain always used the feminine pronoun in reference to her.

Well for one, it would piss Oric the fuck off.

Oh come on, Oric already knows we're the target and what we're doing. If he cared what could happen to Cain, he wouldn't have set up a shop and instead caved our collective face in.

The chance of a check-in right as we're fighting him is negligible, IMO.

Oric strikes me far more as a Pragmatic Villain type of guy who doesn't just let types like Cain wander around for no reason. >_>
