Check available mercenaries before leaving underside, regardless of where we go.
Extra meatshields are good, especially as it looks like we could be heading to Cain. At worst we can just loot their corpses.

EDIT - actually, thinking about it, there are a couple of things we could do on DL3 before we go for Cain.
1. Wind direction across void to unexplored room. I know that if we convert the key first there'll be a chest in there... Also, it's not as if Ciro can actually use her SP.
2. Thinking of that, did we actually give Cherish the wizard hat in the end? If not, we should give her it and have her hit the fountain before we head back to DL3
3. We should probably buy a anti-anti-magic potion from Oric before going in to see Cain. Sounds like he'd be willing to buy it at an extreme profit margin. At the least, we could taunt him with it.

Like one of those rings that give a +1 to DR or something else that may be useful...

I think at least we should invest in an Identify Scroll to see if it works on Ciro... because that was one of the mentioned ways to learn about passive skills. Since the Polar Eye can't even read Ciro's Tier 1 abilities we might want to try another method, because if it works we'll gain a useful skill that doesn't take an inventory slot.
