EDIT: I feel like ? ? ? owns that soul star. Check the soundtrack list in the OP. The only other person there is Proxxy, who has a Soul Star.

Which part? The pink? It's been confirmed that Cain's color is pinkish (despite being trapped in a green-lit cell), and by current trends that means his Soul Star would probably be pink or a similar color.
That's also part of why we suspect the other Star could be Cherish's.

That Soul Star wasn't even supposed to be inside the chute in the first place.
Shoving it back in there possibly would have made the Star becomes drained(reviving Slog but destroying the Soul)

The chute is most likely multipurpose. Popping out Souls from a destroyed body, accepting Souls from a body. I would think that due to it's Seraphim connection, Soul Charge is the requirement to work the machine.
