As one of Warrens' most poorly-understand game mechanics, I do feel it requires a little explanation of the thought behind it (not sure if I've done so before).

AC (by default 10 when targeting an enemy with an attack) represents your target's attempt to block, dodge or otherwise nullify the effects of an attack. That's why you can miss. You could say the anti-magic field, by making it harder to cast magic, increases the ease of avoiding magick.
When targeting an ally, there is no resistance. There is no reason for them to dodge or resist. Even though the anti-magick field makes it harder to cast spells, allies will (almost) always give you as much time and ease as you need to affect them, so the field doesn't change the AC of "nothing."
Bloodshape and similar crafting spells are a special case because you're not targeting and ally or an enemy - you're literally targeting the item being created. A natural 20 will likely increase the quality or decrease the cost, and a failure will result in the item "resisting" creation (as silly as that sounds). Unlike an ally, the item is not actively helping you affect it, and your skill with doing so represents the opposition.

What if the dungeon isn't a prison for Oric and Siblings. What if the dungeon was put there to contain something worse? What if the dungeon isn't a just a prison. Perhaps it is a vault too.  The dungeon is self extending... its growing... bigger and bigger. The Warrens is growing. It is extending past its own boundaries.

When the world becomes the prison, there is no escape and there is no outside. 0_0

Wasn't  that one of my Older theories? That the Angels/Seraphs built the Warrens to contain the strength of the OverSoul in an inescapable prison.

The Oversoul is the Ultimate Plot Narrative Control device; possession of the OS allows the user to quite literally accomplish any action they wish. Like a normal Soul, it has the power to do the unimaginable; only without limits. So powerful it requires a prison to be constructed around it.
The power of the OS attracts many people to go into the Warrens, but they all meet the same fate.



The Warrens themselves are located around(Or on, depending if the Warrens is) the OS. This is because the King of Haria trapped Oric and his Siblings inside the Warrens, as their punishments against the King. He might have thought it would kill(or drain) them, like every other person who enter the dungeon; but instead it didn't for whatever unseen reason.
Oric and his Siblings work to keep the OS under control, and by doing so have access to it's immense database on every single soul it encounters.

The OS is intricately connected to every single Soul inside the Warrens, and a connection to the OS usually means certain Soul Depravity.

The OS is a dangerous threat to the Warrens, which are built on the foundation which keeps the OS trapped within it's prison.The Void itself is a tool used to seperate the dangers of the OS from the Warrens, via preventing escape and offering a safeguard for the Sub-DLs. The OS itself is sentient, and wishes to escape it's prison; but to do so, it must bind itself to a life, which it already has:

CIIIIIIIIRRRRROOOOOOO IIIII AAAAMMMMM FFFFRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEE

The OS wishes to use Ciro to escape it's prison, but to do that it must destroy Oric. And when the Power went out in the lower sections of the Warrens, the OS guardians attempted to destroy the "intruder"

The area looks around for you.

Even the Angels themselves might be some of the Original Guards of the OS, and wish to overthrow Oric because of this. Maybe even reviving Riltia using their powers over the OS.

Just my thoughts on the Oversoul, and how it has an underlying plot to anything and everything we see or do.

Huh. Just now noticed that the image we get when we look into the void and the background image we get when we scan someone is the same, just with a color filter. Thanks for bringing that old post back up, javierpwn.

Thinking about it, those circles of light could be color filters of their own - that is, what we see as circles of light when we look into the void are in actuality other individuals accessing the database! The different colors could represent different clearance levels or different types of search. Maybe someone else looking into the void when we use the Lens sees us as a green light, (matching the filter when we use the lens) for instance.

Secondly, what about non-targeted AoEs like Magelord's cone-shaped attack? It's quite obvious it was cast before any of the resistances were calculated. If anything, we should be checking the AC of the AM field itself, and thus have to roll even to cast on unresisting allies.

Oh, yeh, I think I see what Dar means

Chalk it up to a mistake in my part. AoE attacks are supposed to, and almost always do, look like this:

(Shocking Spheres: 18-3, 5-3, 18-3, 2-5, 3) (Attack: 4) BW casts Shocking Spheres as his minion heals him back up to sixteen HP. FFFFFFFFFFFFFF- Luckily Cherish's Guard once again protects her from damage. It's really handy like that!

Where everyone gets both an RTD and a damage roll if they're hit.

Warrens: where even the GM's mistakes are incredibly deadly.
