Gonna be lazy and ask someone to grab a vote count of exploring D2 versus going to the underside.

Party up and finish exploring the dungeon.
There's some places we haven't checked, right?
North of the room we met Cherish, which should lead toward the ladder to D:1.

+1,
Also we should probably zap Cherish with the Polar Eye scan thing, since we're right near the storage and it's almost certainly recharged by now.
Or Goombess if we've already scanned Cherish and I missed it somehow.

I agree with everything said on this page above my post at the time of posting this post.

I'd say we should stick to probably-safe areas for now, since if we lose any party members before we recover Al and Riltia we're pretty much screwed. Hence my suggesting exploring the village.

Actually, you know what, changing vote to explore that bit in the Underside Village first. It's the biggest population center in the game so far, so I wouldn't be surprised if they've got a professional blacksmith/alchemist/crafting-tutorial-guy who can fix weapons or give us information on how to do so. Maybe not, of course, but the possibility puts me over the edge for now. It'll probably take a few updates for that skill to cook anyway, we can probably explore both places.

Yep, that's an irrufutable proof. We can craft even if we are not taught, then. But maybe getting introduced to some nice mechanics would be good. Yep, I'm not against exploring the rest of the village.

And, about Outer Underside, we need to fix the bridge first to go there.

This is true! I wonder if we can break the ice haft in two pieces, tie rope to it and create Ice Nunchucks...
Amazing idea

Don't forget those sidequests have an entry fee.  On the other hand, it probably wouldn't be a terrible idea to get an updated sidequest list.
I'll second this. My bit of poking around failed to find our outdated sidequest list, but it'd be good to see if there's any easy/likely investments to be made.

And of course, if we're going back to the village, we may as well explore past the market.

Looks like 6 for DL2, 4 for Underside, assuming I didn't miss anything, and that TopHat intended to change his vote like monk12 did.

EDIT: Can't count.

EDIT2:

So our options are, at some point, a risk vs reward type thing. We can stick to safer areas, but we're just sort of stalling if we can't get anything out of them.

Well, there is the 150-update countdown on our skill tree.  So... hooray for stalling?
That's not updates, it's vaguely defined time units. Remember we made that useless grass-growing skill with it? It took 50 units, as I recall, and I think it was done relatively quickly.

Oh, right.  Well, I'm all for spending 150 vaguely-defined time units trying to get to D:1, and then playing with the ladder if we get there with time to spare.

Missed this, 7 to 4 in favor of DL2. My count matches Tomcost's.

Damn ninjas!!!!
My two cents, without quotes.

I tried to do this, but many people didn't specifically said what they wanted to do, just what could be done in case one alternative was taken. The votes (I think) are as follows:

Plan A: Going to DL2
1)Monk12->Changed to plan B
2)Toaster
3)javierpwn
4)mastacheese
5)flabort
6)Tophat
7)Xanmyral
8)Brilliand
9)Tomcost->Changed my vote

Plan B: exploring Underside
1)Dermonster-> said he wanted to go to the arena.
2)GWG
3)Harbingerjm
4)Monk12
5)Tomcost

Those who explicitly changed their votes are like this and added in the other group.

Other ideas:
-Scan Cherish (had support)
-Getting another side-quest (some support, but it was not specified which)
-Getting to where we lost spearflailchainlamp (my idea, still no support, despite the fact that it is a free weapon)
-Going to the arena (no concensus, few people interested)

Well, if you wat to change votes, just say it, I guess that now it's the time.

Uh, where would we explore, in both places? IIRC the only way left to go in the Underside was past the crashed bridge, and DL2... uh... can some kind soul stitch together a map from room images?

Also, +1 to getting spearflailchainlamp.

We haven't explored a part of the village yet, that's where we wanted to go.

Also, the room north of where we held Cherish at gunpoint.

Thank you to Tomcost for getting the final consensus list. Some of the actions cannot be taken because they would require exploring the Underside this turn instead.

Other ideas:
-Scan Cherish (had support)

You send Goom-bess to retrieve the scanner from Storage and scan Cherish. Inventories are shuffled to make room for the Scanner.

You get the same result as when you scanned Al: an incomplete set of information that you don't have clearance to fill out. Oddly, she doesn't have as many potential skills as Al did.

Plan A: Going to DL2
1)Monk12->Changed to plan B
2)Toaster
3)javierpwn
4)mastacheese
5)flabort
6)Tophat
7)Xanmyral
8)Brilliand
9)Tomcost->Changed my vote

You head back to the room where you took Cherish hostage.
