This is something that came to me while rereading.
Why is Riltia helping us? After all, she made no attempt to hide the fact that she worked for Oric.
In fact, why would the statue tell us to kill her if it seems that she's so friendly?
FFS stated after she joined, "She's probably just going to steal all your stuff and kill you later."
Not sure if this is related or not, but the phrase "they'll turn just like you." seems kind of ominous.
Everyone focused on the "traitor" bit, but what about "loving"? That's a little strong of a word to use this early in a relationship.
Why would that word come to mind?
"She will slay you." Pretty to the point, and again, why would, if it's Oric's statues, they tell us to kill Riltia, if she works for Oric?
Unless it's a warning from someone else.
She even admits that everyone keeps secrets, most likely including herself.
So if she works for him, why
didn't she remember him?
Because this is why.
What charges the Soul Gauge? Killing non-Illborne, and
extreme emotions, if Oric's goal requires Ciro's soul Charge, then what would be the easiest way of doing that?
Get Ciro to fall in love, and have his love betray him. And it wouldn't even be Riltia's fault, is the really sad part, because Oric is pulling all the strings, he even controls her
memory, which is why she was the "cute little amnesiac girl" we first found, and why she can get along with Ciro so well, she even likes us more than we like her.
And the reason the statues tell us to kill her so badly is because if she dies, then Oric's best weapon against us has been eliminated, letting the real controllers of the statues help Ciro win.
