...That doesn't sound good.
Agreed.

(Attack: 14, 2, 1) Slog, Blorble Specialist, has been slain.
No!
...Ah, well. He was 80% useless and 20% use-impaired, ±6%

This also means we have a critical shortage of storage space.
...Oh crap!

We should try to see the effects of restoring a save on the dead after this.
+1

Can we still use his corpse for storage?
He's a slime, slimes don't leave corpses.
They leave...slime.

And, um...
I shouldn't be posting here, but you guys do realize that in addition to Slog's death and the bot still attacking, Yaos is about one or two turns away from his relatively unspecified doom. If you're going to make a fix, you need to make it now, and it needs to be a lot better than what you've been trying. You can be brilliant if you really want to be.
(Not sure why you shouldn't be posting here, but please continue. You're a good fellow beacon of relative sanity.)

Suggestion: Snatch the spellbook and stuff it in the bag. Having done so, request that Yaos flank the beast (so that if he explodes, the bot takes the brunt of the impact) ideally with us on the other platform's side and Yaos on the door side. Shoot the Bot from as close to Medium range as we can.

For later, do you think Bloodshaping a bag would help?

@BM: You gotta learn to accept that sometimes, things like this happen you may not like it, but sometimes the best thing to do is just to move forward. I mean what you're saying now seems a bit like you can't move on from this, its just a game.

I feel as if everyone is ignoring my Soul Charge debt theory.

Seems the worst that will happen is a Yaos Illborn(who may or may not be OP as hell)

Well. As much as we know anything for a fact that hasn't been explicitly stated to be so by Word of God.

We had some pretty compelling evidence even before, but now that THERE ARE NO NUMBERS AT ALL AFTER THE RED 8, I'd say it confirms the doom theory pretty hardcore.
Alright, I went back and understand how the things work now.

However, running out of soul charge just turns you into an illborn, which as evidenced by Slog, Cool Crab, and the villagers (or at least Chief), isn't necessarily a bad thing. Certainly there's no direct evidence he's going to go all Riltia on us.

As for running out of numbers, that's worrisome but could mean a lot of things. Notably, he's at under the red number ( 8 ) in HP ( 6 ), and given that they cause him to bleed and fill him with a sense of mortality, could mean he's in trouble. Which I guess could turn into going all Riltia on us, but I don't see how killing him first would fix that.

To that end, I think we need to heal him. Given that we can't, I think we need to either:

1. Hope red gems restore health like blue gems restore SP, and suggest that Yaos eat some

2. Barring that, run for it.
Better idea below!

In order to get him out of danger, which would hopefully stop the countdown and/or give him a chance to heal by other means.

For later, do you think Bloodshaping a bag would help?
Brilliant! The solution to all of our noncombat inventory problems is at hand!

I missed it, sorry. What was it again? :x

...Can we just shoot the damn bot? We have a shotgun, the guy is close range. We have Warzone activated, everything combat related is at +5, which is our attack, our evasion, possibly even our damage. Why flee? The thing has taken enough damage that its probably a hit or two away from death.

Put the soul star in storage. (S)He might not die then.

I approve except I'm worried about Yaos. If he can munch gems to get better, then by all means, let's dance.

If he can't, I'd rather haul him back to town than let him die so we can kill the bot.

Then again.... That name involves debt of some sort...

Maybe in order to provide all other functions, it takes away  a requisite soul charge number, to even out the debt provided by getting all the other numbers. Which could explain why it hurts him more and more, as he gets lower; closer to becoming Illborn
As his soul star name kind of translates to "Indebted Magical Forge/Crafter"
Fun Fact:This update section is called "Debt Collection" in the Navigation section.

Yaos' soul star named refers to magical crafting using debts, so it could literally be ripping away his soul charge to fund his receival of Gems. As known with Soul Stars, all their functions rely on soul charge to be powered.

Also, I think I have a simple little theory for why Ciro bled during the Arena battle; and it involves tactical combat
The star knows the debt will be repayed when the eight strikes
Present new theory of Soul Star taking away charge, to repay his old debts

Whoa, that would explain some things.

Still wouldn't explain what the red numbers are, though. Eating his soul charge to produce gems and regenerate SP, sure, but to cripple him with pain?

Problem is that we can't control Yaos. We can offer suggestions, but with the Bot still alive and active that kind of hinders doing anything beyond killing it. I feel it would of been a waste just to run in, lose health, have Slog die and lose several items with nothing to show for it.

I don't know how to fix Yaos, but he's still a turn or two away from (possible) death, we can figure something out after the fight. Maybe he needs to munch a purple gem or two, who knows? Maybe he just needs to drop his soulstar, that might do it. Going to the storage to put it away would take too much time, just have him drop it on the ground and observe.

Side effect of soul charge being taken away. Imagine your lifeblood being drained from you, to the last drop.

Also, the name still refers to debt, and he is paying it off.
We could always do something life-changing to Yaos. Like betrayal, but not killing, or introducing him to love.

...alright, I'm convinced.

FOR SLOOOOOOOOOOOG!

Possibly. I'd expect a correlation between what's being produced and what's being demanded in that case, though, which we haven't particularly seen. Not that we've seen a lot, but if it was following some obvious exchange rate, I'd think we'd have noticed something.

Also, his soulstar name is probably fairly poetic. Nobody else's soulstars have plainly identified how their class works before.

...or maybe nobody else has used their soulstars that much. Hrm.

We could always do something life-changing to Yaos. Like betrayal, but not killing, or introducing him to love.
We could try, but it's pretty hard to pull life-changing experiences out of a hat, and even if we could it's not exactly a long-term solution. I find it hard to believe he's living on borrowed time to that extent.

Aww maaan, poor Slog. We're rapidly running out of party members. Shoot the robot, take Slog's corpse to Greens revivification tube

I really hope we can save Yaos, he was took that shotgun-to-the-face like a champ. My disdain has transmuted to respect. 2 updates until we find out whether that red number heals hp.

-1 to trying to kill Yaos beforetime. Cold-blooded murder has never done anything good for us.

ninjaedit: Looks like a good theory to me, javierpwn. It's interesting that we're the only one responsible for alt battle systems, in terms of Soul Charge Pain. Possibly because of Astral Influx?
