Tomio, you might have a great theory, along the lines of what I came up with, but you still need evidence.

I think there's more to it then that.  Remember when we first came to the Underside- someone said something that adventures coming in was a relatively common occurrence.  Are you suggesting that when a normal person dies after coming into the Warrens, they become an Illborn monster?  Interesting... that would imply there's a Mili-monster out there somewhere.

Sadly,Al never bit Mili, and there wasn't room for her to be revived.
The Voice even said her soul was beyond recovery, and we got a point into the "Souls Deactivated" achievement. I dont't think we'll be seeing a Mili monster anytime soon.
Some people who enter the Warrens get their souls ripped out, while a lucky few, like Al got in unscathed, probably through a different entrance.

If I may interject Kingdom Hearts logic: A Heartless is the heart itself succumb to darkness. Worth noting is that the heart is what gives memory, ambition and hope. A Nobody is the body and soul that is left behind, if the person who became heartless is powerful enough. So in almost definitely wrong KH terms, we're looking at the possibility of Illborn being the soul forcefully taken from the heart and body. The Soul itself is the energy and force of living and survival. Without it the creature would be naught but a vessel with feelings and no potential. Not the worst by-product for free souls, especially if you have to put something in your dungeon.

How about this unfounded theory. The illborn are actually a personification of all the "bad" thoughts, repressed behaviour and all the other "negative" aspects of the people inside the warrens.

As I believe this is my fault, I shall formally apologize.  I was joking, but doing a bad job of it.  I'm puzzled as to why it was locked after we moved on, but still sorry.  I get kinda stupid when I'm really tired and in a good mood at the same time.  Still propose we give him the creepy achievement if he ever does that laugh again though.

Based on the universe he came through, if we find a plant level we must give him ALL the seeds.  For now...the trap was trying to keep us from the south.  It thinned our party.  So there's probably something plot-relevant there, though that might mean we should hold off until we skill up.  We need skills badly, but unfortunately the merchant might not be selling a skill slot, unless the Bag Full of Slot will give us both a slot for skills and a bag of holding, in which case we NEEDS it!
We have no money right now though and our inventory is full so I propose a trip to the bank before any spelunking.
