How is that an integral part of the theory? In fact, if it works as well now as it did in the arena, it seems that that would be further proof that this and not some other factor is correct.

Well. That's certainly ominous. I think THE MYSTERIOUS VOICE WHO WE CURRENTLY BELIEVE TO BE CAIN is implying that Spira, and not Oric, is the source of the anti-magic field. It also means that, perhaps, Spira may not be completely omnipotent. Not that we should even consider fucking around with her any time before DL8, but we know to be on the lookout for an opening we can exploit later.
