A. FINALLY. It always kind of worried me that you, unlike everyone else, didn't seem to be capable of actually engaging us and, you know, NOT doing what we say. Now you're directly conversing with us, even.

B. Aaaand well, you're both right and wrong. On one hand, it is probably largely my fault that Riltia bolted like she did, considering I was the original one bolting the Astral Influx from Riltia to you. On the other hand, that wasn't actually a suggestion, just a movement, and my ultimate goal had been to EXONERATE Riltia -- it still is, even, just I'm now a lot less sure about how things are actually working. Better now that we have the relative peace and quiet to figure this all out than in the midst of combat or something anyway.

C. And we're not just "some darker place around you" or whatever, we're a bunch of BS essences a' floating around in the Void because we got torn in half and stranded there when we fell into the Warrens and got killed by it.

  Oh crap.

All this time we've assumed the we are controlling the characters, which control the soul stars.

The SOUL STARS control the characters, just look at the grabby hands trying to regain a foothold on Ciro- that's US. What if the only way to break the cycle... is to give up control? Let the characters rule themselves, free from their soul stars?

  Crap, crap crappitty crap.

Breaking the cycles is just a goal we chose for ourselves. we don't have to follow it if we don't want to. Because the characters are separate from us, our goals are not the same as theirs. But we don't really have a goal at all, maybe to get our bodies back, but that isn't likely to happen, so really the only thing that makes sense for us to do is... mess around and see what happens.

No. The Soul Stars(most of them) don't control the characters, that privilege is reserved for the Astral Influx.

Out of curiosity... Yo, Proxxy. Do you know what Oric's soul star is called?

Actually, I've got to wonder: Ciro's clearly defining herself and her individuality a whole lot more by separating us like this. But considering we're now actively being acknowledged (and more than just as a vague "THEY GOT MINUS KILLED" like Al) and apparently to an extent conversed with, this might do a whole lot to define who WE are as well. We KNOW we're the separated essences, but why exactly do we do what we do? What's our stake? I mean, we have interest in trying to help Ciro break the cycle, but is it just interest? Do we have something to gain or lose? What, essentially is our purpose?

Wait a tick, I've got a less faux-philosophical question. If we're the memories floating in the void, the Underworld's "Collective Memory", then why don't we remember the last cycles? Was it a different set of Essences guiding the Ciro of those cycles? If so, what happened to them?

In spirit with some older theories,  'Target had no access to the Influx in past cycles' is a decent explanation.

Your logic is inescapable, but I have the power of Decryption at my commands!

FOR I AM THE LOGIC CORE!
DECRYPTION SUCCESSFUL!

It looks like Ciro has revived but there seems to be a mistake. His astral influx is active meaning his current memories are being confused with his past memories from the last few thousand cycles. I don't believe this has happened before it could be indicative of a greater inconsistency than we hav

EDIT:Apologies for the double post, I posted, rather than modified. ehhhhhhh

See, I considered that, but I rejected it. Al blames us for getting Minus killed in that cycle, and it's why he refused to listen to us. Spirits had to be there to have the influence to get her killed in the first place. In fact, my money goes on them flipping out and getting her killed after she ditched.
