I'm pretty sure we tried that with Slog's essence—it didn't work. Doesn't the Illborn Exchange store some sort of shadow when we use it on an Illborn?

We did indeed try it on Slog, and it works.

We put him in the essence—creating a shadow—and then took him out again.

No, we linked him to the Illborn Exchange, converted him to Essence (effectively killing him) and then immediately converted him back. The shadow was more of a reserved slot in the menu of the Illborn Exchange itself.

It may be that without having linked Cool Crab to the IE prior to his Essencification it won't work (we tried it on a random Wisp essence and got nowhere) but maybe having had him in the party will be enough.

I feel like binding the Essence of Crab to World Master won't actually lock him into our plane of existence. FFS wouldn't allow it. In fact, we'd probably end up losing the Essence as well. However, since I don't particularly care about Crab Essence...

Point. Have Polydectes merge the Crab Essence with Worldmaster. If that's not possible, or not a good idea, do it anyway.

Well, the experiment failed and we still have our Crab Essence, so actually that went better than expected.

Secure the loot quick, but before going Hub-ward:

Let us have a look at the unshifted Soul Star's capabilities. There'll be a load of amazing tech gear waiting for us back at the Hub, and we'll need to know the full extent of our capabilities for manipulating it.

If possible, give us another tiny clue to help us crack that code. If there is anything dangerous out there waiting for us, the Hub is where it'll be - and the unsolved code will be how we were supposed to know about it.
