Actually, on whose side would the Auditors be on?
Double checking the info on those guys... almost certainly Necrons. Seems right up their alley, for both groups. Turn everything into nice barren dustballs and make the warp bugger off? Yepyepyep.

Or... maybe the 'nids. Sorta' the same end results, but the means would probably grate on the Auditors nerves. E: Though... then again, the 'nids are only barely sentient in a lot of ways. Nids might not be so bad to th'auditors.

Okay, how about this: A set-forcelimit melee between fleets from a bunch of different settings. Take, say, these:

Imperium of Man, Galactic Empire, Chaos, Orks, Eldar, Hiigarans, Terrans, Protoss, Borg, Federation, Cardassians, Star Kingdom of Manticore, X-COM, and maybe a few more, and throw them all into the same star system. Predictions on alliance-of-convenience fallout? Final results?

Actually, that brings up a new topic. How close a match would it be between an X-COM Colonel with Flying Armor, Heavy Plasma, high Psy talents, all other skills high, etc. and a Space Marine? Astartes are used to resisting psychic attacks, so that likely wouldn't be a game-ender without grunts vulnerable to MC around. If we're talking about a Colonel from a rabidly optimized squad, they could potentially be pretty darned close to an Astartes, but I'm not entirely sure how their respective tech would stack up. One obvious weakness for X-COM would be in close combat, as all they really get for that are stunsticks.

More importantly, could an Astartes take a blasterbomb to the chest and survive?

In addition, why do we always insinuate that a crossover with the 40k universe has to be just that?

What's to stop say... An entire imperial fleet disappearing in the warp, only to find itself in another universe?

There would be no reinforcements, no mind destroying horrors - simply one faction lost in a world that's not its own. It would also balance out a playing field against something that has great planet destroying capabilities.

"Confused and lost, a rogue trader shows up in middle Earth ready to bring another world into the Imperium's rule. Sauron has other ideas."

A single Imperial fleet would be enough to wipe out entire civilizations in some scifi settings if it came to that, though - given enough ammo and supplies and/or the manpower and infrastructure to replenish them. I can see the opposing sides capturing and rapidly reverse-engineering Imperial tech, though - and they'd actually be able to advance it.

If the fleet actually stayed away from war, well, that would be interesting.

I've been toying around with a 'Imperial fleet appears at Mass Effect Earth' idea in the past. Extra fun if it appears; a) during the end battle of ME3, b) during the First Contact War (those Turians are in for an even bigger surprise), or c) just in time to defend Earth from the initial Reaper invasion.

Shepard would have their work cut out for them trying to do diplomacy with the Imperium and not have them try to kill everyone.

Charisma doesn't mean shit when you've got Inquisitors from the Ordos Hereticus and Xenos after you.

In this case, there would only be an Imperial fleet. Really, I think a radical-leaning Inquisitor would adapt very well to Shepard and ME. In any case, I see Cerberus approaching them very quickly.

True, but one situation that might happen is the fleet blowing up a mass relay due to it being 'xenos tech'. Cue fleet dead.

A radical Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, possibly. But if there was a rabid one, from any Ordo, either the Inquisitor would end up taking an accidental laser to the face or the Impies would go on a rampage. Heh, what if that Imperial fleet popped out at the Citadel? And yes, I think Cerberus and the Imperium would get along quite nicely.

Dc, Marvel and 40k in the same universe would be fun.
