You know how we had a general rule where nothing could defeat the WH40k universe in terms of grimdarkness or even straight up competition in any area of conflict whatsoever?

I think Dwarf Fortress might actually be more grimdark than 40k.
What makes it even darker is that Dwarf Fortress is really just supposed to be a world simulator. It's not even intentionally grimdark.

I have recently been reading this.  It has some really good writing in my own opinion.
I like it, even though I know little to nothing about the Eragon universe. (I read the first book when I was in junior high, but I can't remember it at all.)

My favorite crossover fanfics are:
Harry Potter and the Natural 20. A D&D wizard gets dropped into the HP world. Hilarity and munchkinry ensue.

"Yeah, you're not helping, Goyle," said Goyle. Wait, Crabbe. Said Crabbe. Phew, close call.

Heh. Hehehehe.

Thanks! (I'm Sir Poley. That's probably the favourite line I've written, only after:
“You’re hopeless, Goyle,” Malfoy muttered to Crabbe.
“Yeah, you’re hopeless, Goyle,” Goyle said to Crabbe.
“Yeah, I’m helpless, Crabbe,” Crabbe said to Goyle.)
My favourite crossover is Shinji and WH40K. Shinji's epic rants when he's in his eva are something to behold.

I have a question: do stories about our fortresses (like the Cacame stories, for example) count as fan fiction?

I wouldn't say so. In essence, they are the original work as much as the game itself, as is every story generated by the game. Now, stuff like Elves of Amanerelli (sp?) would, on the other hand, probably count as fan fiction.

I've always looked at AARs, LPs, and so forth as being original fiction. You're basically creating a unique story using the game as a medium, and the actual plot/backstory (if any) of the game is often ignored entirely or twisted so radically that you can barely recognize it.

I feel like "MI troopers" and "competent" shouldn't be in the same sentence
On that note, how many movie MI troopers would it take to kill a single MI trooper from the book?

All of them.
Also, balancing rule:
No main characters for either side. Just mooks.

All of them.

How many Imperial Guardsmen (Just basic, nonhero, guardsmen-with-lasguns-and-flak-armor) would it take to kill a squad (assuming a squad size of 12) of MI book infantry?

Depends. How well do book MI infantry stand up to energy weapons? Keep in mind that lasguns are still very powerful by our standards, they just have a hard time competing with the even more far-out stuff in the WH40k universe.

Dunno, but I'll say a fuckton, because book MI apparently consider 'cramped quarters fighting' to be 'one mile between every soldier'.

Okay, idea on what might be able to survive and/or defeat the 40k universe: Time Lord society, pre-Time War. Maybe.

On one hand, a Time Lord claims that they're a Type 4 Kardashev civilization, and "Most races pray to lesser beings than the Time Lords."

On the other hand, in the series, the Daleks never seem to come anywhere close to that, and yet were capable of taking on the Time Lords
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another faction that might survive: Anti-spirals from TTGL.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Both Time Lords, Daleks, and from what I've heard, anything from TTGL (galaxysized robots?!) could easily win the setting. 40k seems threatening due to it's high tech level and scale compared to most other franchises. Those two have tech that breaks it.

Going back to the topic of book Mobile Infantry, TVTropes has this to say: " Mobile Infantry are incredibly powerful and they tend to spam nuclear warheads like candy. "
