So in association with something mentioned earlier:

Midichlorians are a hive-mind Warp God that feeds on all strong emotion. It selects hosts for parts of its whole and subtly maneuvers them into lives which will generate substantial emotion in many people. The Jedi are individuals who have realized on some level what is happening, but not the full extent of the problem. Neither the Sith nor the Jedi will ever be allowed to win final victory, though, because just as with the four of the 40K galaxy, the status quo is a desirable state for the Midichlorian collective.


More or less, the SW galaxy is one where the sole deity-tier Warp entity has already long since won total victory.

Huh. I always thought of midichlorians as kind of like mitochondria.

Although if you go with canon, there's two entities that have agreed to fight a proxy war through Jedi/Sith battles.
