Wheeeeeee!

The lag is noticeable but hasn't been infuriating yet, and all else seems pretty nice. Still haven't played enough to say whether it'll be entertaining in the long run, but for now I'm quite pleased with it.

I would love if some one tried to make a comparison between this one and the original one,  i basically loved the 1st one becouse of all the knowledge you needed to build your character and how everyone was REALLY diferent from each other in every aspect.

I haven't played enough to do anything like this, but I can state that stats and skills work fundamentally the same, requiring you to figure out what you're doing and plan ahead. They also shoved cards into a character-specific series of five (unlocking as you level) slots, with runes or somesuch serving the old purpose of being stuffed in gear, which might also help with the knowledge/uniqueness factor.

Goodness.. blacksmithing gets expensive. I expect all crafting professions do. Was it like that in RO1?
I like this though. Trivialized crafting is lame, and I've noticed that practically everything I can make is very useful for its level. I don't mind emptying out my pockets to use up ore, although it's silly that you buy anvils to do so. "Yes, I'd like 12 steel anvils please. Just stick them in my left front pocket. Hey, watch the goods buddy." Maybe it's supposed to symbolize anvil uses.. or maybe I'm just over analyzing something in a video game.

Anyway this game has surpassed my expectations! I recommend it for all who have time to spare and a thing for MMOs.

I never had a high-level merchant-type character so I dunno about the crafting itself, but the refining of equipment was expensive as all hell. Especially since there's only a fraction of a percent chance that the equipment survives being upgraded to +10. The best you can usualy find is +9 equip (maybe +10 if it's a Level 1 weapon) and that usually gets sold for millions of zeny.

Oh, and the max refining level is +20. Yeah.

In RO1 there weren't any professions, The blacksmith, alchemist and merchant were classes.

In RO1, while you can craft equips, its mostly for elemental weapons. Weapons with extra card slot is king for PVP. Some people would prefer a weak sword with 4 slots than an expensive powerful sword with none.

Anyways I'll try this someday, for nostalgia.

Einherjar, though I have no idea if there's any differences. I believe Freyja's the newer server, but I don't know what the consequences of that would be either.

Honestly this has everything I had an issue with in RO1 fixed, namely blacksmith/alchemist/whatever being a class.

I just want to make weapons AND be able to kill things.

EDIT: Oh also the 3D doesn't look half bad for a F2P game, so that's always a bonus.

Arg, I should have listed my server in the OP. I'm playing on Freyja but it seems like the majority of people are on Einherjar. Ah well.. maybe there'll be server transfers or something. If so I'd gladly put up the coin for a Bay12 guild! (20 zeny is needed to create the guild, aka 20,000 silver)

Is the server currently down? I downloaded the manual patcher, and it doesn't seem to be patching.

Yeah, "emergency maintenance" was scheduled for today but it seems to be lasting a bit longer than usual. The patcher isn't even loading up for me.
