Anyway, on the actual topic: I'm not sure what I think about the Republicans trying to sane-it-up. On the one hand, if they go sane, it'll be a harder fight for liberals and progressives to get in power. On the other, they have a good enough base that if they don't go sane, some of the really bad ones might get through and shit on everything ever.

Like I said at the top, it's either hope-they're-sane-and-try-and-negotiate, or die. You are not an action hero, you are not going to get out having a gun pointed at you without some sacrifice, barring some miracle.

I have two options:

1. Resist, and have a chance of preventing myself from becoming a victim.
2. Do not resist, and have no chance of preventing myself from becoming a victim.

To assume that the second option is the appropriate one to take is incredibly defeatist and actually offensive to everyone who has been a victim of violent crime.

Please do not assume that I am trolling simply because I am posting opinions that people disagree with. I am presenting my arguments in a logical, controlled manner, and asking for input by others on several occasions.

You are wildly off topic, at best, and every single thing Descan pointed out and more at worst. It doesn't bloody matter if you're trolling or not, because you're still ruining any chance of having a decent conversation on anything actually related to the thread topic. If you want to argue about this, guns, or what the fuck ever in a context outside politics, start your own damn thread. Resist or don't resist? Again, by not resisting, you have a greater chance of NOT DYING. By resisting? They'll shoot you, almost guaranteed, especially if that resistance is with a gun. Just to protect their immediate life, they'll shoot you.

Like I said before but got washed out in our own in-house insanity binge, I'm torn between wanting the guarantee of sane conservatives (instead of insane conservatives getting into power) versus a greater chance of liberals and progressives getting into power (if the insane-a-thon continues).
