Most of what I know about Bloomberg is through his interactions with Occupy.  Not the least bit flattering for him.

Bloomberg is like some Bizarro World conservative's worst nightmare. He embodies all the problems of the nanny state and few of the benefits.

"no sodas over a certain size"
A totally indefensible policy... except for the fact that it's expected to help obesity while not hurting anyone anywhere.

We expect silver bullets from our politicians then when they give us silver bullets we ridicule them.

Obesity isn't a problem most people want fixed, at least through political means, if it's something they want fixed at all.

Most people consider a politician trying to legislate something like that crazy, whether it is or not.

Policies like that do not allow you to cast yourself as the "sane" candidate.

So apparently video game devs are "electronic child molesters" now.

Quote from: Ralph Nader
Obama’s plan doesn’t go far enough on the violent video game creators he called “electronic child molesters.”

“We are in the peak of [violence in entertainment]. Television program violence? Unbelievable. Video game violence? Unprecedented,” Nader said.

He added: “I’m not saying he wants to censor this, I think he should sensitize people that they should protect their children family by family from these kinds of electronic child molesters.”

I don't know if it's crazy, per se. But it is heavy-handed. Reminds me of the sort of satirical vision of Jerry Brown in "California Uber Alles".

EDIT: Ahh, Nader. Now *that's* what crazy nanny-state leftism looks like.

I thought crazy nanny-state lefters were at least sane when it came to video games, though. What a sad world.

Ewe... I actually voted for Nader once...

Kinda regretting it now.

Actually, i have never had the opportunity to vote for someone I really agree with.

Republicans take a shit on every right except the right to bear arms.

Democrats take a half shit on most rights, and a double shit on the right to bear arms.

Damn it, I like bear arms, they are sooo fluffy.

The NRA seems to have recently turned on Hollywood and videogames as a deflection tactic, so there's likely to be a whole lot more posturing on it.

The issue is that the NRA is currently defending itself publically with the dumbest people possible. So some deflection is needed.

either that or people are intentionally only letting the crazy NRA members talk.

The Crazy faction is not insignificant within the NRA.

What is sad is I heard my Canadian News outright say on the air that the Crazy people who spoke for the NRA were "fair" to show because they did in fact represent a large number of Americans.

Which is kinda... odd.
