Still, this is British politics, not American politics as it should be.
Yeah.  I hear Bush is thinking of invading Iraq, anyone got the latest on that?

Let's just hope it goes like it did in Afghanistan - in, kick the Taliban out, back out again. The Americans and the other powers did their jobs pretty well - it's not like they'll have to spend the next decade trying to fight a war of occupation, even during an enormous economic recession, over a highly unstable country on the other side of the world riddled with sectarian and tribal violence.

Shame they didn't catch Osama. Oh well, maybe next year?

Joe Biden 2016?

Yes, a Canadian site was the first Google result. Make of this what you will.

I'm not sure if I can vote for Who The Hell Is Joe Biden 2016. He seduces biker chicks and doesn't afraid of anyone.

You can imagine the anti-Joe Biden 2016 advertisements. "Joe Biden is the man Al-Qaeda wanted to be President so he could ruin the country."

Also, possibly, Rahm Emmanuel. Only very possibly.

He might be a challenger, but I don't see him getting the nom. Too intertwined with Chicago politics, which is not a good thing.

I'm still putting my money down on Gov. Brian Schweitzer of Montana as a dark horse.
I've seen Elizabeth Warren suggested by some, but she's not ready for prime time.
I've seen Gov. John Hickenlooper suggested, to which my response is...just say "President Hickenlooper" out loud. Yeah. Now you know why that ain't happening.

I know there's a lot of expectations for Hillary Clinton to run. She'll be too old and she'll STILL carry too much baggage. Expect to hear WAY too damn much made out of the "sniper fire in Sarajevo" fooferall.

Andrew Cuomo? It's possible. He was a rising star even before Sandy, and now he's become (along with Chris Christie) the face of the Northeast.

Should also be noted that Biden will be 74 in 2016 -- two years older than McCain was when he ran.

Nah, Giuliani's days are over.

Bloomberg could, I suppose, make an appearance if both parties nominated a sectarian- say, Santorum v. Warren. It would be very smart for him to do so, actually.

The problem is that everyone I know, whether Liberal or Conservative, hates Bloombergs guts (and Giuliani too for that matter) or think he's an incredibly idiot and would never consider actually voting for him (and don't understand how he ever got elected).

That might just be a New England thing though.

I think Giuliani shot his wad in the 2008 run. He didn't even run in 2012, if memory serves.

Bloomberg would be an intriguing nominee. However, he's persona non grata to Republicans. He just came out in favor of strict gun control, for God's sake! And he's passed all kinds of intrusive legislation (like banning sodas and indoor smoking).

He's got the personal coffers to finance a decent run, a la Ross Perot. But I think he's happier as mayor of the biggest city in the Western Hemisphere as opposed to President. And yeah, if both parties were inept enough to nominate a total zealot, then Bloomberg would have a good run with being the sane middle.

Except, again, most people I know don't consider him sane. The whole "illegal to use salt when baking bread" and "no sodas over a certain size" bits, the "you're either with us or against us" (exact quote) rhetoric, they tend to alienate the normal, moderate voter, if only because they think he's an idiot. (He is, from all appearances)

He stridently supports stances hated by conservatives, and stances hated by liberals.

I'm pretty sure everyone outside of New York considers him crazy.
