See, the average modern-day person (who knows about WH40k, anyway) sees that and thinks "Wow, that sounds cool!"

The average citizen of the Imperium (especially the Adeptus Mechanicus) sees that and thinks "A blessed Godwyn-pattern boltgun merged with a tainted, soulless xenos weapon? Heresy!"

Rouge Traders have some leeway, but I doubt anyone in authority would ignore something like that :P

That, and I doubt the tau would give you a battlesuit as well :P

Well, not unless you join the greater good.

Even then, the best you'll likely get is a pulse rifle and maybe some Tau armor.

I'm not sure you can even be a Space Marine in Rogue Trader :|

I'm pretty sure the job definition for Space Marine includes "Dying for the Emperor."

Ahem. Yes. Soul drinker approach, me thinks.  ;), with a liberal helping off, "has, can and will make serious mistakes, and wasn't humanity what he's doing this for anyway? Therefore-*runs*" I'm sure there's (possibly conversion) system in deathwatch.

I'm sure some Rogue Traders would be happy to employ renegade marines, but the main problem is probably balance. Marines would be hugely OP compared to the base classes, unless you let everyone start at a higher rank or something.

Wouldn't be starting as it. It would be up to me to pull off during play :P.

You don't 'pull off' becoming a spess marine. Those guys are built from the ground up, by the time you are a char in a Rogue Trader game you are already too old to ever become a marine.

That said, the Rogue Trader game and the Space Marine game are supposedly interchangeable. But it does not really work out so well since they have differing focuses. With the Rogue Trader game being about adventuring and diplomating and gaining vast wealth. And the Marine game being about killing Xenos.

But ignore the fact that in combat situations the Marine would be OP and in all other situations it would be useless, and sure, the games can be mixed.

And then the Rogue Trader kills you because sers bro. Rogue marines are not pretty to have around.

To be fair, Rogue Traders hire xenos mercs and everything from Hostile Acquisitions quite happily. Sure, you'd have to keep a close eye on your own little renegade marine, but think of the destruction!
