Temporally Unstable: A multi-adventure.
« on: January 12, 2013, 11:39:18 pm »

This might not work out terribly well, but it should be interesting at the least :)
-
tldr version: This is a game about combining RP of somekind with a randomly generated plot. If the RP makes the plot unfinishable it warps into a different plot. I'm here mostly to move things along if you guys don't via suggestion game style.
-
Basically, the rules are simple. Using a combination of The RPG Videogame Plot Generator, Seventh Sanctum, and me doing enough GMing to keep it from falling apart hopefully, A character (or several) will go on an adventure of somekind, based off the initial plot. How/If it gets to the end is up to you guys. Alternate endings also work as long as you don't break the plot too much to do so. Names can be changed for anyone within reason except the main character, who should be renamed as little as possible (titles don't count) to keep track of him/her more easily, and the villain, who doesn't get a name change unless his name is quite terrible or he is not infact, the actual Big Bad.

If the main character dies (or enough plot destruction to cause this) however, everything shifts into a different setting, with the remaining non-plot items probably sticking around (A laser rifle isn't going to stick around if you end up in the middle ages, but scifi healing item #4 will since it can be hidden better). The former plot items will vanish. Plot-unrelated collateral damage is fine. Characters making it alive (or intact enough to communicate and hold an object) to the end of a plot get to keep whatever non-plotbound item they feel like keeping from that setting onwards (Though if it has limited ammo etc, it won't get refills out of nowhere unless you refit it to use something you can obtain from the current area) until they die or something like that happens to take it away, the main character getting first pick.

To start, a Knight and his loss of a manor:
Quote
After a brief introduction to this timestream, you enter the world as Edge Albion, a knight-in-training to a regional Lord on the edge of the kingdom.  You are sent out to collect firewood one day, and return to find that your manor is under attack by vicious gargoyle-like monsters.  You valiantly try to defend your manor, but there are simply too many of them.  You are forced to flee or you will certainly die from the enemy onslaught.  With the help of a kind-hearted blonde female healer and the relatively calm surroundings you manage to fight your way to safety, but you can only watch as your manor is completely destroyed. The firewood is still intact, but it looked like debris in the first place really.

Desperate for answers, you and the kind-hearted blonde female healer decide that the best course of action would be to travel to the home of your childhood mentor. You share your story with your mentor, who listens with great interest.  After hearing your tale and noting your incomparable bravery it becomes clear that you, Edge Albion, are the Chosen One mentioned in an ancient prophecy;  the one who will either bring lasting peace to the planet... or tear it apart.  Next, your mentor informs you that the attack on your manor was not a random event, but rather that the vicious gargoyle-like monsters were actually looking to eliminate you before you could realize your destiny. You and your companion head off to the nearest town of Good Orange Province, Tondor, to finish what the homewreckers started. Perhaps there are others in need of home avenging there.

Both of you are Relatively Unhurt.
The kind-hearted blonde as-yet unnamed female healer is not lacking in spell energy or mana right now.
Edge Albion has 130 golden Royals, Knightly Armor, and a Well-Used Sword.
The female healer has 100 golden Royals, a good robe, sandals, and a hardwood stave.

Current characters:
Sir Edge Albion (main character, not claimed by anyone so I'm moving him. Male knight.)
Fauna Chaosbattler (Female healer, scapheap)
Unnamed Craftmage (Rival Wizard, Twi)
Grail Tempestspawn (hooded dagger/axe man, rabidgamer)
Unnamed shadowy man (Child of Armok)

Would this be a Suggestion or a game with players taking the place of characters in the plot?

A bit of column a, a bit of column b. There can be suggestions if you just want to see how it goes, but mostly its people taking the place of people in the world and then maybe moving the plot along. Or ignoring it and eventually getting where it needed to go in the first place somehow. Or breaking the plot entirely and ending up somewhere else so the world doesn't asplode. Something between those three results; you're basically some people with timetravel abilities jumping into random worlds for better or worse.

Obviously you must seek out a master of the arcane for your party.

THe largest city in Good Orange Province is Famsi, and is quite a trek away. Since the map was burnt down in your manor, you'd have as good a chance at finding it as anywhere else past the horizon.

The closest town however is Bur, home of not much at all. Formerly was 'the town next to your manor', its about 5 steps away. There are a few sheep milling about the place, a couple shepherds, and the town's singular smith in sight, along with The Inexpensive Chant, the tavern. You could probably get a few people to help if you explained a bunch.

(Recruits can either be people you guys are, or npcs of somekind.)

The two of you walk into The Inexpensive Chant, and a wizard calls over the healer, Fauna Chaosbattler. He introduces himself as Der Monster of Tondor, a wizard with a title, though he didn't seem inclined to say much else about how he got such a name. Most of the rest of the tavern seems empty for now, though it was about noon when the attack happened so it makes some sense.

We can't trust anyone whose title is "Der Monster." That's, like, "The Monster." Let's leave him behind and ask for directions to Famsi.

A rival wizard (to be exact, a wizard who likes to MAKE STUFF, not just throw fireballs around like all those crude hedge mages) walks in and begins arguing with Der Monster about who's better at wizarding.

Does he need a name? No, not really.

Well, now there two arguing wizards in a tavern. A stone-walled tavern helpfully, but that won't stay intact forever if things go as badly as some expect from Der Monster of Tondor and a Craftsmage who looks down on hedge wizards.

(Also, I added a tldr version of the explanation to the first post)
