No armor as of yet. No bolas, IIRC they are a South American weapon, which would be slightly out of place.

We have axes, swords, short swords, daggers, hammers, maces, the cestus, spears, tridents, large shields, small shields, and nets. Currently, you are only training, so only wooden versions are available, and no cestus or nets have been provided.

As for armor, you will be armored like gladiators. Manica for the most part, which are arm guards, a helmet, and for the lucky few, greaves. You will have to rely on skill to not get shanked horribly.

 :(

Fine I'll have an axe and a small shield to be worn on the left arm.

We're going to pretend Tiruin went with a sword and shield, because I don't want to wait any longer. :P

As you all gather your weapons, the other gladiators have paired off and begun sparring. The Doctore, after a quick conversation in Egyptian with Rhame, begins pairing all of you off, as follows:
Adnalsnah versus Kaiso
Ceruleaus versus Velligus
Steveus versus Rhame
Kora will spar with the Doctore himself.

Please begin sparring, and post your initial actions in combat.

Rhame's actions occur before Steveus'. (6-1=5 vs 4)
Kaiso's actions occur before Adnalsnah's, and Kaiso may attack twice. (3+2=5 vs 3-1=2)
Velligus' actions occur before Ceruleaus, and Velligus may attack three times. (6 vs 2-1=1)

Speed rolls indicate your initiative in combat. Any difference of more than two allow the winner another attack. Attack rolls will be rolled against defense, and any difference of more than two will increase the damage done, or increase the effectiveness of the parry/block, which can lead to speed negatives for the failed attacker, with differences of two, for the next round. Complicated actions, such as, "Trip the opponent then stab them while they're down" will require Cunning rolls.

Let things become complicated!

Kora and Doctore will be our example.
They both rolled a 4 for initiative, so I'll allow Kora to go first because Player character.
Attack was 5 vs 7, Doctore's favor.

Kora stepped forward at the same moment the Doctore did, and stabbed at him, almost experimentally. Doctore swept aside the attack with his own practice sword rather easily, and countered with an attack of his own, a backhanded slash.
(4vs3) Kora's favor
Which Kora deflects off her (?) shield. They circle a moment more, when Doctore looks at the other new slaves, and shouts, "Well? Come on! BEGIN!"

"The best way to beat someone slow is to keep them slow."

Aim one attack for his legs, and the other for his spear arm. Dodge attacks as necessary.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

2. Follow through with a backhand swing to the neck.
IF SUCCESSFUL GO TO 3 IF NOT GO TO 6
3. Knock him out with a axe hilt/punch to the face.
4. Shield bash him down to the ground.
IF SUCCESSFUL GO TO 5 IF NOT GO TO 7
5. Stomp to face. Repeat until he's knocked out.

"[Have a good sparring match.]"

Smash Steveus severely.

Block Rhame's attacks, sweep his leg with my axe.

(4vs5, Pariah's favor) (Note, Pariah's Favor would make an awesome band name)
(5vs6 GWG's favor) (Note, that doesn't make a very good band name)

Rhame wades in, swinging his hammer in a tight overhead arc at Steveus. Steveus spread his stance a bit, and raised his shield to catch the hammerblow. With the clunk of wood smashing into wood, the blow bounced off. Steveus followed this successful block with a sweeping strike at Rhame's legs, trying to trip or hamstring him, but Rhame jumped over the strike, and the pair continued to circle, neither harmed.

"The best way to beat someone slow is to keep them slow."

Aim one attack for his legs, and the other for his spear arm. Dodge attacks as necessary.

>Dodge attacks

"Why did I grab this, some more axes would've been better...of course daggers are hardly to be threatened of, if only I could get some distance."

(2vs5, 4vs4 Wwolin's rolls are first)
(2vs4 Zenzet's attack roll)

Kaiso moved in without hesitation, whipping his daggers about swiftly, bringing one down in a stab at Adnalsnah's knee, and the other jabbing towards the elbow of Adnalsnah's spear arm. Adnalsnah stepped back, and the stab missed by an inch. Adnalsnah tried to twist his spear around, and succeeded in blocking the dagger, but only just. In the contorted position he'd placed himself in, he had to abandon the throw he'd initally planned, as Kaiso was too close for a toss. The combatants pressed against each other's guards, Kaiso trying to push the spear out of alignment, and Adnalsnah trying to push Kaiso back a step, so he could throw the spear at him...

(o.O) (I may have to fix up the stats on Remalle's things a bit, after this no hold's barred beatdown training session)

(2vs6, 4vs2, 7vs4, GL rolls are first.)
(6vs1 Cunning)
(5vs3 Remalle first)

Velligus swung his axe at eye level, and Ceruleaus ducked under the swing. As Ceruleaus straightened, Velligus stepped into him, and bashed Ceruleaus off his feet with his shield. As Ceruleaus lay stunned, Velligus roughly stomped on the prone gladiator's face, breaking his nose and spattering blood everywhere. Ceruleaus rolled to his feet, neatly dodging the next stomp, bleeding profusely from his face, and whipped his huge hammer about in an arc. The big wooden practice hammer blasted off of Velligus' face, knocking the Gaul off balance for a moment. The two combatants circled warily now, with a newfound respect for each other...

Kora Versus Doctore

(5vs4 Kora)
(6vs4 Doctore)
(Cunning roll 3vs5)

Kora stepped into Doctore's reach as he turned from yelling at the others, and hammered the hilt of her (?) sword into his cheek. He flinched away, and circled for a moment, eyeing her grimly. After a moment, he lunged in with a feint, but she spotted it, and sidled back. So he pressed forward, swinging at her viciously. She ducked one swing, and received a knee to the face for her troubles. Her nose was bleeding as she stood, and prepared for the next attack...

And now we'll introduce the Health mechanic! Everyone has 100 hp at the start of each battle. Attacks deal a basic 10 hp damage, but for every difference of two in an attack, this goes up by 5.

While he's still off-balance, swing at his head. Also swing at the side with my shield. Keep up the attack!

Probably one of the better gladiator RTDs I've seen. Here's to hoping you can keep it up.
