Dammit Hans! Stop getting me and Unholy Pariah confused! I AM VELLIGUS!

Anyway, I choose Andabatus. I only wish I could continue to use the axe though...

Oh, sorry. I might have remembered who you were... IF YOU'D POSTED A TURN. :P

I think ill choose hoplomachus, not 100% on that but im leaning that way

We can customise the equipment we get from those slightly right?
Like taking a javelin or heavy spear or grabbing a small buckler instead of a medium shield?

I'd rather you didn't so it's easier to keep track of it all for me. I'll start writing up stats for weapons, shields, and armor tonight, but for the most part, you can choose a different weapon of the same-ish type. I'd prefer you leave the shields alone. :P
Also, go ahead and assume you can trade out any 'Gladius' or 'regional short sword' for a one-handed axe, hammer, mace, or similar one handed weapon.

And the stories tell of only men fighting in these lands. What will the people say when they see my face?

Kora looked at the Doctore, then at those who had fought around her.

Probably not a good idea. I do not know these people, or their culture. Are we scorned to be as slaves, or associated with them?

Or is my knowledge wrong? Do the other fighters commit themselves to battle with more...dignity than an uncovered shell?

She tapped the helmet of the Andabata, inquiring as to how this style was played - didn't they usually fight blindfolded?

I'd like Pugiarius, if I can exchange the daggers for a short sword, and exchanging the throwing knives for throwing axes.

Actually, just add throwing axes to Myrmillo.

Screw it ill takr a myrmillo with a hand axe

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

She tapped the helmet of the Andabata, inquiring as to how this style was played - didn't they usually fight blindfolded?

Doctore smiled as he dumped the unconscious Kaiso off with the Medicus and turned to Kora. He gestured at the eyeholes of the Andabata helm and said, "No, the Andabata only fights blindfolded in the playfights against the Paegniarius, and in the funerary games with the Bustuarius. In the deadly games, they wear helms that allow sight."
He gestured toward the helm of the Hoplomachus, "The way you fight seems to indicate you would prefer to use a longer weapon to keep bigger, burlier opponents out of grasping range. You handled yourself well enough when I closed on you, but my strength and reach was telling. This would be a good style for you, but Andabata is also good because of the heavier armor."

Wait.

Wasn't Rhame fighting with a hammer?

... Yes...?

Okay, once we get the last couple people's classes in (GWG, Tiruin haven't actually chosen yet) we'll get started on the next 'chapter'.

Dammit Hans! Stop getting me and Unholy Pariah confused! I AM VELLIGUS!

Anyway, I choose Andabatus. I only wish I could continue to use the axe though...

That would be acceptable.

Kora spoke.

"I hope people still have ethics in the coming battles, then."

Hoplomachus it is.

I've a bad feeling about this.

(I'm aware that Frisia Magna existed well AFTER the height of Rome's power, but hey. Creative license)

I bring this up because none of the gladiator classes have hammers or hammerey weapons.

I'm also willing to do discussions on the possibility of two handed weapons, greataxes, two-handed mauls, etc.

Missed that.

I'll go with a Thraex, with a hammer as a weapon.

Right, to explain some things: Anything in (parentheses) means that special circumstances apply. The writing inside the parentheses is NOT added to your normal bonus, it is the special circumstances bonus ADDED to your normal bonus. Or the special circumstance penalty. Whichever. For the cunning of a Cestus, at 1.5 you gain no actual benefit. But next 'level' you will have +3 cunning instead of +2. Then two levels later you'll have +6 to the +4 of everyone else.

You get an additional +10 HP per level, and you will get one additional +1 bonus to distribute as you see fit, EXCEPT you cannot use the +1 to negate a penalty inherent to your class. You can increase your attack or defense, but if you have a negative speed, you have a negative speed forever.

Reach weapons allow you to, with a successful speed roll, attack with no counter attack allowed, once every two rounds. This is automatically the case for your first attack, then you can choose to do so again on round 3 of any fight, or you can save it. It's up to you.

Any questions so far?
