Pleasant Rest Mental Asylum is was built in 1897 as a mental asylum in an area known as the Hellmouth due to the extreme amount of folklore detailing the bizarre things that happen there. Even with the standards of the time, it was shut down in 1937 due to "Gross negligence towards the patients" and "Extreme brutality". The asylum switched between several owners over the years, eventually ending up in the hands of a private company that renovated it.

However, this is the official story.

You don't know the unofficial story, but you do know bits and pieces. This is the dumping ground for the strangest people and the weirdest things. People who saw too much, people that have a hint of oddness about them, even what can only be said to be paranormal creatures. The asylum itself has an evil history behind it that never fully leaves the present, and the dark places are never far away.

You're a patient, a person who saw too much and may even be touched by the darkness, or you're an orderly, who tries to help the patients as much as they can while still trying to make sure they don't go entirely mad themselves. Try to survive in the asylum that no-one wants to spend a night in alone.

This is a semi-freeform RP set in the worst mental asylum in the world, with a few differences. For one, it's going to have a GM instead of the usual complete freeform. When you do an action that could be considered contested (Lockpicking a door, punching a person in the face, trying to summon the spirit of bad decisions), you type it out in bold at the end of your post. I'll respond to these actions and tell you how they went. Otherwise, it's like a freeform RP. Consider it a cross between an RTD and a freeform RP.

The asylum itself has unlimited space for patients and orderlies, a common room/dining hall for both orderlies and patients, and storage rooms. Once you leave this small area of the asylum, however, you enter an unlimited rat's nest of abandoned rooms, underground crypts and tombs, and many other things.

To join, just write up a character sheet and jump right in as a new orderly/patient. We'll be starting when enough people (I'd be fine with around four or five)

As the GM, feel free to ask me questions about the setting, how your character should fit in or just any questions that come to mind.

Name: Stone. Henry Stone.
Gender: Male
Diagnosis/Job: Sudden hallucinations of little demons and monsters that he believes are real, and mild paranoia after an encounter that sends him into shivers when brought up in conversation.
Appearance: A white shirt, the kind you would wear with a coat and tie, with the coat god-knows-were and the tie taken away for fear he would hang himself. Black slacks. Disheveled brown hair, and piercing ice-blue eyes.
Biography: Ironically enough, a psychiatrist. Everything else, he forgot after the... thing.
Personality: Likable and polite, with a large vocabulary and an tendency to wax lyrical. Talks slowly, and thinks everything out until struck with a hallucination, at which point he starts gibbering in fear. he never tries to befriend anyone, and most attempts are ignored or deflected.

Name: Recently started calling herself "Likorti Diaytoch", real name being Rebecca Douglas.
Gender: Female
Diagnosis: Prone to anger, homicidal tendencies, insomnia, paranoia, believes self to be servant of these "demons".
Appearance: Long, disorderly blonde hair, albino, auto-scarred skin, purple eyes, a few broken teeth, long nails, blank, blue shirt, blue jeans.
Biography: Meh, I'll make it up as I go.
Personality: BIPOLARBIPOLARBIPOLAR. Very energetic.

Name*: Elena McKnight
Gender*: Female
Diagnosis*:  Schizophrenia
Appearance: A young woman with an average build, hazel eyes, and medium-length brown hair. She wears a plain blue dress, and a single glove with a smiley face drawn on it on her right hand
Biography: As a child, Elena's parents noticed that she had far more imaginary friends than real friends, and they sent her to Pleasant Rest Asylum to try and cure her of her 'overactive imagination'. Ironically, an overactive imagination was all that she suffered from, until loneliness at the asylum led her to invent Sir Glove. By all accounts, Sir Glove is a perfectly regular glove, although Elena, who is now in her late teens, believes it to have a human mind and intelligence.
Personality: Elena is outgoing, but has absolutely no social skills due to her only friend being a glove. She tends to ask the glove for advice whenever she doesn't understand a situation. Removing her glove is a very dangerous proposition, as the last person who attempted it had their eyes gouged out.

Name: Angerus Temperon (Real name unknown)
Gender: male
Diagnosis/Job: Anger managment issues. HUGE anger managment issues. Also has delusions that he is a
"Angry Marine" from the fictional Warhammer universe.
Appearance: Close cropped hair, white undershirt, red hoodie with a angry face on it, blue jeans and sneakers. His hair is blond and his eyes are green.
Biography: He was found smashing the fuck out of someone in a bar fight. Will not talk about his past but from the close cropped hair we can guess he is ex-mil or even a gang member
Personality: Angry as fuck. Really angry as fuck. God help you if you speak against the "God-Emperor"

We're getting the band back together. We're on a mission from god.

Really, interesting can go either way. I think I better have some orderly NPCs to balance this out for the first while if no orderlies join.

His silky, straight, white hair is waist-length and is worn in an utilitarian style. He is very tall and has a boyish build. His skin is ruddy. He has thin eyebrows. His wardrobe is no-nonsense.

Biography: Dr. Gerhardt always wanted to help people. He wound up here, "instead." He got an internship at the PRMA right out of medical school and worked his way up. Dr. Gerhardt mostly treats physical ailments, but over his 30-some years working at the Asylum he's learned a fair bit about mental illnesses as well. His greatest asset is his calm and detached demeanor; his greatest weakness is his aloof attitude. Dr. Gerhardt often points out that these two are one and the same.
Personality: Calm, intelligent, rarely surprised, sarcastic
