Guys if we're a mushroom it doesn't matter if our fruiting body gets plucked- the spongy bit that people eat is only the reproductive organ: the mushroom-proper is the weblike mycelium that lives underground or in the tree bark etc.

By my calculations, the time from when I go to sleep at night to when I get home in the afternoon is about 15 hours. Maybe 16, if I get to sleep unusually early, or 14 when I stay up too late. And that requires me to start a game right before I go to sleep.

Soon you have your new tree-murdering powers! You then think about the future of your species, and try to reproduce. After several hours of failed catcalling at passing insects, you remember you spread by spores. You shoot of millions of spore, spreading tree-death around the world! MUAHAHAHA! What'll the puny humans do now, without their precious "wood" or "paper"?! What do you do? As a mushroom, not a puny human without your precious "wood" or "paper".
